If the fight was even, Kovalev should have won

Let's JUST say the fight was even statistically.

I think Kovalev should have won due to 3 things.

    1. The knockdown, it was 1 to 0 in terms of knockdowns. That's gotta count for something.
    2. Aggression and controlling pace. Even Ward fans can't deny Ward was backing up most of the fight. We all know it's riskier to be the aggressor than it is to defend, block shots and counter for 12 whole rounds.
    3. Whatever happened to the challenger showing up and winning the belt convincingly from the champion. Shouldn't a tie go to to the champion?

What do you guys think? Do you ya'll think Ward won convincingly even with these 3 points?

People saying this fight should or could have been a draw are idiots. There is virtually no way to come up with a draw unless you somehow give Ward a 10-8 round. 6-6 and Kovalev wins due to the knock down.

Wrong, if Ward won 7 rounds and Kov 5 with a KD it would be declared a draw

A knockdown takes 1 point from the opponent, nothing more.

I've seen so many failing at maths the last couple of days.

7-5 with the KD is 114-113 like the judges had it.

Ward won the fight. Check out my thread on it, I just posted to see why I thought so. And Sergio didn't "control the pace with his aggression", either. Ward reduced him to single shots and the occasional right hand, so how did he do that exactly? After the second round knock down, Ward adjust to Sergio's punch and won the majority of the rest of the rounds in the fight. His defense, inside game, and body attack, took A LOT of steam out of the "puncher". Ward is the more versatile fighter and can do more in the ring, that's why won. He is a very special fighter who adjusts to his opponent's and is very hard to break or hurt. Hats off to Sergio though. He is a great fighter as well. A rematch is going to happen and is necessary. Another thing, I don't hear any of you talking about how Sergio was holding and putting Ward in headlocks, often. Do you know why? Maybe it's because Sergio cannot fight inside. Maybe it was because Sergio is a bully and mean in the ring? He also hit Ward with a forearm early in the fight and Ward did it RIGHT BACK to him! I loved it!
