he found a way to avoid the head locks and leaning on his neck by kovalev...found the space to get body shots in
once he got dropped, he moved counter clockwise to nullify the straight right and slip kov's jab and counter with his own
also, he nullified the headlocks by not moving in straight lines, and started moving laterally.
if you dont know what you're watching, you wont recognize the adjustments
instead of fighting him mid and long range, he started pushing kov back and forcing him to work when he usually catches a breath...he imposed his will
You are wrong again......
"When he got dropped he moved counter clockwise to nullify the hard right hand." After the round where you made this claim that happened Ward "adjusted", Kovalev landed a hard short right at ward's fore head and Ward was able to reply back with 2 strong stiff jabs, but Kovalev answered a Jab on his own and controlled it on the distance, counters ward again with a jab that followed by a right that pushed ward against the ropes. While Ward wanted to rush in on the inside with his signature highguard bob and weave, Kovalev counters by fainting and letting ward overreach with his attempt to do the inside game and unleashes 1-2 combos that forced ward to do the clinch which Kovalev out muscles him and does good body work so does ward
Round 7-9 was the Ward rounds get by he get it close. It was Kovalev gassing because he had to wrestle Ward in the inside in round 6 which he got the better of it. He clipped Ward with a hard jab in round 9 when ward tried to do a bolo jab. But Ward had only moderate success in the inside because Kovalev was able to head lock ward almost half of the time when he attempted to rush in when he slips the Kovalev jab.
Round 10 Kovalev clipped him again when Ward clowned, and followed with a hard right that sent ward in the corner but ward counters with a good left hook and then Kovalev sticks the jab again on the head which ward snaps his head back. Kovalev round.
Round 11 - Ward clips kovalev with a hook to the body, and following a hook upstairs. Kov answers little, it was a Ward round.
Round 12 - Kovalev rushes in, sticks the jab, Ward got caught with a jab, and Sergey followed with a hard right that hit his body, and they clinched, Ward doing good on the inside. Then Kovalev sticks the jab again and clips him with a signature 1-2 Ward answers with a looping left hook, though it missed but he made up with a short right hand in the mid range, and kovalev answers back that hits a short right hand on Ward's cheek. Ward answers with a left hook but Kovavalev was able to jump back from the punch. Kovalev round.
So no, little to no adjustments from ward, it was more of Kovalev gassing out from all the wrestling.

not my fault you dont recognize adnjustments both made in the fight
go back and watch it or learn more about boxing
kovalev didnt just let him come back in the fight or just got winded lol
you're a boxing hipster bruh, be proud.
It's hilarious how you portray yourself as some kind of expert on the sport, when asked to explain the supposed adjustments, you only say ..err ' he stopped getting headlocked'
One of the adjustments Ward made was when he got countered with that right hand in the second round, he began to move counter clock wise in order to avoid it. He never got hurt by it again.
Secondly, in the later rounds, Ward started targeting Kovalev's body which probably helped fatigue and slowed him down by taking a lot of snap off his punches.
Thirdly, Ward took away the double left jab which hurt him in the very first round. After round one, Sergey was unable to land that punch ever again. He was reduced to landing single punches at a time from the point on.
Those are just a few adjustments he made in the fight. However, I'm sure there are plenty others but I will allow for some of the other posters to list them if they so choose.
No explanation, no reason, no brief talk aobut how or what he did to adjust. They just keep on saying "Adjusted" At everything and moves on.
This word keeps getting thrown around. Tell me, what did Ward "Adjusted" to? Did he adjust to Kova's range and right hand? I sure as hell didn't see it.
I agree. Kellerman was pretty quick to call out 'special things' that Ward was doing that he didn't elaborate much on either.
"Ward doing some special things here and there" or whatever his quote was...I need to see it again in fairness, but I definitely recall this type of thing being said.
It is almost as if some fighters fall into a box if what style/capabilities the vast majority of fans think they always do...So whatever they do gets painted with that brush as a preset opinion so to speak. I, for one, didn't see any great adjustments from Ward yet see people talk about him making fight changing decisions etc...He capitalised on some body work in the mid rounds as I recall, but since when is that a P4P style of mid fight adjustment? It isn't, but Ward has his image of being smart and crafty, so people jump to the conclusion that he indeed fought that way.
People just have preset thoughts about some fighters therefore it magnifies whatever they do in that area. In this case, it is some people claiming to praise Ward's apparent P4P1 level of intelligent adjustments vs Sergey.
