  • Comments Thread For: Smith, Macklin Side With Andre Ward: He Beat Sergey Kovalev

While many in the United States saw a robbery last Saturday night, there seems to be a lot of experts in the UK who disagree. Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport and Sky Sports' Adam Smith had Andre Ward (31-0, 15KOs) winning a twelve round decision over Sergey Kovalev (30-1-1, 26KOs).

The judges seen a man that was known for damn near killing boxers with his devastating power; withered down to a normal boxer.

Exactly. Kovalev won clearly. Lol Macklin literally had Ward winning 3 rounds to 2 after the fifth round. Not even Ward's biggest fans had Ward with more rounds after the fifth. Just absurd. Does anyone believe these guys? I wonder if they watched it on TV with biased Paulie Malignaggi telling them what punches to count.

This is why boxing is a mess. So much corruption, incompetence, and unfairness. Just go watch round 10 again, which all the judges gave to Ward, and see what happened. That was a clear Kovalev round but they knew if they gave it to Kovalev, he would win, so they had to give every remaining round to Ward. When stuff like that happens it's just too obvious.

Withered down? He threw 100 punches more than Ward, and landed more total, and landed more power shots, and dropped Ward, so if Kovalev was withered down, WTF was Ward?

"The Judges seen a man who was known for impeccable boxing ability, get dropped and outboxed all night on the outside!"

See? That **** works both ways. That's why fights aren't judged based on expectations or past fights, they're judged based on who wins more rounds. And that was Kovalev. But we all saw with the Hooker-Perez fight that the judges were in the tank for Roc Nation, and you know the rest.

I wonder if they're paying commenters too on forums like this trying to sway the public perception? Aint no one buying that bull****. It wasn't close enough to fool people like that. No way you can give Ward 7 rounds.

When I first watched the fight I thought it was a draw. After watching it in the afternoon and not in bed at 4am I realised kovalev had actually won. I feel really bad for him and now understand his frustration after the fight. He deserved the win

Throwing 137 more punches and only landing a whooping total of 10 more punches shows how ineffective his aggression was and why the only only people thinking it was a robbery are the ggg nuthuggers who was pulling for his bodyguard to pull through, hbo guys who Ward no longer owes anymore fights and can go over to showtime with all the belts, and guys who write articles like yourself prob never got into a fight in your lifetime... Damn near all the people who are actually boxers or trainers had Ward winning a close fight so stop all your whinny b1tching racists bs you been spewing since the fight ended
