I remember I had ward up by 1 point 114-113, I scored the 10th for ward actually because kovalev's nose began to bleed.

Rewatching this one (crowd cam vid) I saw a Ward victory even more clearly than before. He does the more clever, clean work. A lot of rounds, Kovalev scores the biggest punch, but many others are grazing. I'm not the type to just give rounds for whoever landed the biggest punch unless it's something that clearly steals a round. Kovalev edges him on volume in some rounds but, again, many of those just aren't landing clean. I think I gave Kovalev too much credit before because I'd never seen anyone score on Ward that much so it left a strong impression.

All that said, I think the rematch is 50/50. I think Kovalev performs better the 2nd time through.

this is a great thread on confirmation bias. starting with your goal: how do i get to 114-113 ward and then working backwards. if you watch the footage of the fight its not close at all of course but some people have the donald trump fake news version of the fight with all of kovs punches edited out or something.

this video even misses some of kovs better punches and gives ward credit for low blows and holding and hitting and still he lost wide. everyone seems to give ward roudn 9? why? it wasnt even close. so right there all your crappy 114-113 cards get overturned. outlanded ward 2-1, landed the best punches of the round including an uppercut left hook combo and a leaping left hook whn ward was on the ropes that swiveled his head around. thats a ward round because he landed a couple little body shots? no bias though guys.

yeah i can actually back mine up with evidence though. watch the video for confirmation of what im saying. i dont think simply saying body work is good enough to explain how a guy who is outlanded 2-1 in a round and doesnt land the cleaner heavier shots wins it.

round 1 clear kov landed more and better quality
roudn 2 clear kov landd more and better quality
roudn 3 close-landed equally but kov slightly shook ward with a left hook giving him the round based on quality
round 4 clear kov landed more and better quality
round 5 close but ward landed slightly better quality
round 6 clear kov landed more and better quality
round 7 toss up lands and quality equal 10-10
round 8 close on lands but ward landed slightly better quality
round 9 clear kov landed more and better quality
round 10 clear kov landed more and better quality
round 11 toss up lands and quality equal 10-10
round 12 somewhat close but kov landed more and had ward hurt to the body

thats my card watching it this time. i could be persuaded upon further review to change those 10-10 rounds to either guy so anywhere from 7-5 to 10-2 kov is within the range of good scoring. obv if you were wathing it live you could have a different score because you are emotinoally attached, influenced by commentators, on drugs, etc...but actually watching it closely it was an easy win.

ward wins the round becaus he landed 1 out of 1 punch for a 100 percent connect rate.

kovalev landed 99 out of 100 for a 99 percent connect rate.

ward wins this round for cleaner punching and better defense.

SMH at people now alluding to some kind of conspiracy because all the judges had it 114-113 for Ward. Ironically so did boxingscene scoring press and every other fan, fighter, and journalist. Either it was 114-113 for ward or the same score for Kovalev. Either or.

That's a lot of people in on the conspricay, right?

I had more rounds for Ward than most. And this is coming from someone who predicted a victory for Kovalev.

no it wasnt. stop with your strawman arguments. a ton of pepole had it wider than 114-113 for kovalev. besides some guy named tom craze(appropiate name) i didnt see any card for ward that was wider than 114-113.

I broke the round for you guys second by second. In return, I had guys talking about punches that didn't even land for Kovalev while disregarding Kovalev's head snapping back.

yeah and i posted the video of the round so i think that trumps your biased breakdown. kov dominated that round. if you think ward won it then you must have thought he won 11-1. your bias is really showing now.
