He faded horribly in the latter rounds....it appears he's not built for a twelve round fight. It wasn't Ward that slowed him down after the fifth, it appeared it was his own conditioning.....every fighter from this point forward will try to drag him into the deep waters of the latter rounds and hopes that he will fade like he did to night. Seems like that is being exposed to me.
It was clearly Ward's body work that was responsible. He went for it very effectively starting in round 5.
It allowed him to drag it to the championship rounds and steal a couple of rounds.
HBO was setting up the narrative all fight. "Ward got knocked down, but now he's holding and not getting knocked down! What heart! He just landed a jab! Did you see him hold and hit Kovalev's arm with that short shot inside that did no damage? He's coming back!"
HBO commentary was extremely biased. Max and Roy overvalued Ward's work the same way they always do for boxers. I heard Paulie Malignaggi did the same for the U.K. broadcast.
Ladies you should all stop watching boxing and go back to having Gayweather's **** in your mouths cuz Ward didn't do jack**** but hold, hit low, and run like a biotch! This is the reason boxing sucks as of late! What happened to you have to beat the champ to be the champ!
Like i said 6 rounds at the most so if its 6-6 kd wins it. ward didnt win 7 or 8 rounds.
I saw it 1 pt. either way. Ward got it. He's a man, so we'll see it again next year regardless. I can understand if you're a frustrated Kovalev stan. I'll admit that if this fight happened in Russia, Kovalev would have probably taken it 115-112 at a minimum.
That's boxing. I wouldn't have had a problem with 114-113 either way. I'm glad my guy got it, but I can understand if you're frustrated as a Kovalev fan. I'm not a troll, so I'm responding to you as a man. I think Ward's ability to fight back after a porous first 3 rounds won him the fight. Great news for all of boxing is that they will most definitely do it again next year (and hopefully again after that as well).
