I agree Kovalev was the one hugging in the later rounds. But it was Ward doing the wrestling early. Basically, Ward hugged Kovalev for 5-6 rounds, big time, until Kovalev got tired and was no more dangerous. Then Kovalev was in trouble because he slowed down out of his bad cardio and he was the one trying to hug in order not to get hit. In any case, i don't recall a match with that much hugging, maybe Fury versus Wlad was close to this level of hugging.

Ward was hugging on for DEAR LIFE in the early part of the fight. Ward was shaken up and almost looked goddamn scared. I thought we might have an early night. Honest to God I also thought Ward won round 3 (but lost 4 and 5). Kovalev was wasting energy doing weird showboaty stuff and not landing anything more than a jab or a good single punch. Meanwhile he was holding a lot (2nd half of fight), he fell down, he fell through ropes, he low-blowed Ward, wasn't mounting any consistent offense, and didn't have much of an answer for Ward at all for like 6-7 rounds straight.

I'm happy Kovalev lost because based off what we saw...he has to have more in him than that. He dominated early than just fell flat. Kovalev can - and should - do better in a rematch. Ward will be more cautious early and go straight for the body in a rematch. Don't care what anyone says but that body attack paid dividends b/c Kovy was so ****ing gassed wtf??

Didn't watch the fight but went on Youtube and 99% of the people there say Kovalev was robbed so I would say it's a robbery and to those who say it was a draw it can't be because of the 10 to 8 round in round 2 which would leave Kovalev winning by 1 point
