My guess is that Ward would not have taken the fight for anything less and RNS was pretty much forced to pay throw a hail mary and hope this fight does well.

Yesterday Virgil insinuated that Kov was being underpaid by Duva. To be honest, 2 mil for a fight that doesnt have much hype outside of the hardcore fanbase is what I would have expected him to be getting paid. I'm sure there's some ppv upside or overseas tv deals that will bump up his purse a little more but the pay is within reason for what this fight will generate.

Both are great fighters and it should be an amazing and historic night for boxing. Its actually the only fight this year that I will be dishing out money for to purchase the ppv. The reality is, as great a fight as this should be, neither fighter is a star that will draw in big numbers. 200-250k buys is what I predict. At that number RNS will lose money.

It's called starting a business. Let's say it does 200k that's 6 million dollars, it sold 9,000 tickets in first week. If it breaks even or loses a million no they don't care.
