Will Roc Nation lose money on Andre Ward?

Kathy Duva says Sergey Kovalev has kept Main Events alive as a business - she was ready to close it down until Sergey came along.

But Roc Nation has been paying big purses to Andre Ward - he's guaranteed $5 million for the Kovalev fight.

Given the fact that I dont see this fight doing more than lets say "200k" buys, I dont see how Roc Nation will turn a profit on their $5mil guarantee to Ward.

Great for Ward if he was able to get that kind of money. Who can be mad at him? I just dont understand RNS business strategy. Are they trying to follow the Al Haymon blueprint of overpaying their fighters to try and lure more fighters in and shut down other promotional companies? If so, I hope they realize that Haymon's plan did not/is not working.

LOL are you kidding? Ward's entire career wont generate the money he's being paid for this one fight. He's just not entertaining to watch and he's not enough of an ass hole to create interest any other ways. Nice guys finish last.

Roc Nation is a collaboration between Jay Z and a 5 billion dollar company. They don't care about crumbs you coward.

So are they intentionally trying to lose money? I dont get it.

Are you saying that because they're worth 5 billion that its ok for them to lose a few million for absolute no good reason?
