Comments Thread For: Claressa Shields Co-Managed By Former HBO Exec Mark Taffet

Claressa Shields became the first American woman boxer to win a gold medal in the London Olympics, then did it again a few months ago in Rio.
The brash middleweight from Flint, Michigan, makes her pro debut Saturday night on the undercard of the Andre Ward-Sergey Kovalev light heavyweight title clash. She'll do it without headgear but with the same two-minute rounds as in the amateurs.

She overcame a very tough childhood to become a two-time Olympic gold medalist.

I wish her nothing but success. Hopefully she can keep being a positive person and a good role model.

Mad respect to Claressa Shields. It takes a lot of confidence, passion, hard work, and positive energy to get where she has.

I hope she can capitalize on the opportunity. I'm very interested in how she handles all the pressure.

Please don't act like the UFC is lingerie league or something, lol.

On looks alone, Heather Hardy, Amanda Serrano, and Cecilia Braekhus, lay shame to any trio of women fighting in the UFC, and that's without pause.

                    Why not?

It'll depend on whom she ends up signing with, the type of TV interest that she draws, and how her skills are coming along as a pro, but it's not an impossibility.

Christina Hammer, according to your statement, is apparently the boogeyman at Shields' weight, and the only chance that Shields has at getting a big purse any time soon, is likely to get through said boogeyman.
