Floyd has a point, Lampley did go out of his way to trash a rematch but I think if they believed that they had a chance to get the PPV rights at all, they would not have done that. It's this simple, they shunned Pacquiao, don't have Floyd anymore and are not getting the zillion dollar rematch and they are mad about it. There's nobody to blame but the HBO brass. You missed out on 300K buys in Manny's last fight and it's just too bad so sad.

That said, HBO is still the best boxing programmer ever and do have better production value and have almost always had the best fighters in the world, including Floyd for most of his career. They undoubtedly do right now.

Not really a "SLAM" it is the TRUTH!

Most announcers are humble but Lampley is very arrogant and he thinks his can influence the sport by pushing his own agenda on fans and trying to get them to believe what he believes and when he does that then YES I think it should be pointed out that he has never fought before. I listen to Roy Jones Jr, I even listen to Max Kellerman who never boxed either but Kellerman especially when away from Lampley is very fair tires not to be bias or discredit fighters. Lampley want everybody to go "toe to toe" and eat punches he thinks that is the only way to box so he pushes that ideology on gullible viewers

I agree with Floyd. There should be more cats who've fought with commentary jobs in boxing. Pretty much every other major sport does this more than boxing does. I'd like to see more announcers like Paulie & less like Jim "**** **** **** ****" Lampley or that wrestling guy on Showtime. And watching boxing that is an obvious thing cuz there is less talk than about whats happening in the ring then all the other combat sports I watch (I don't watch any other sports so I can't give a NFL or NBA to boxing comparison).

I do feel like PBC is putting forth a lot of boxers into commentary roles, arguably to the point of error as some haven't seemed ready for the job, & the next boxer who gets some hype for his commentating is almost assured of coming from the PBC universe.

All that said I don't think its a 100% thing, not do I think Floyd was implying as such. My favorite commentator is Al Bernstein & I don't think he ever fought amateur or did much boxing training if any.
