How many headbutts will Ward land on Kovalev?

Well, maybe Kovalev needs to listen to that coach who can't teach or tell him a damn thing, and maybe....just maybe he'll be able to avoid the headbutt.
Just my take on it. Moving along.Comment

He is shorter that Kovalev right?
That upper cut / head butt combo should work like a dream in those clinch breaks.Comment

He will land plenty of "accidental" ones......as accidental as when Robert Byrd(the ref this weekend) thought Hopkins(who hasn't landed an accidental headbutt in his life) did this to Winky, by accident of course....

ive gone for 2. i dont think headbutt will be wards weapon of choice cause its been very well publicised. think there will be a hell of a lot of clinches, around the 60/70 mark although not quite 80 which he managed against kessler. im expecting perhaps more use of elbows in this fight, like he did against bikaLast edited by Madison Boxing; 11-17-2016, 12:02 PM.Comment

Kessler and Froch are just not on Kovalev's level, it's not much more complicated then that. Take away every single headbutt by Ward against Kessler and he still schools Kessler 10/10 times, Kessler simply just doesn't have an answer for the puzzle Ward puts out.
Kovalev is a completely different story, headbutts and dirty fighting will not affect the outcome of this fight in the slightest, if anything, Ward fighting "dirty" benefits Kovalev more. Sergey Kovalev isn't Mikkel Kessler, he's got some nasty, and his nasty-side would come out victorious in a collision with Wards 'dirty-ness.'Comment

I sense that Ward is in the same mindset as he was for his first title fight against Mikkel Kessler. In that fight Ward fought extremely dirty and, among other nasty stuff, landed several blatant (yet uncalled) headbutts.
So what do you think? How many will headbutts will he land?Comment

I personally am undecided on who I think will win. I think that Wards lack of viable opposition in the past 5 years is a big issue. Had he fought a genuine top 10 lhw contender, he would have been better prepared.
Anyway that's not what this thread is about. Its about headbutts. Something that has been very subdued in Wards recent many fights, but a weapon that Ward will look to deploy again in this fight imo.
I hope for a referee who will enforce the rules of boxing.Comment

A thread with a poll with the question: "Will Kovalev try to kill Ward yes or no?" Makes room for little discussion.Comment
