People need to stop with all the excuses for fighters performing bad or losing. It's funny that they only come up when its a fighter that the fans like. I'm pretty sure every fighter goes through **** while preparing for a fight. If they can't handle it then do go through with the fight. If you need an excuse as to why you lost or why you looked bad, then you're not mentally tough. I would be a lot respectful if a fighter just said they had an off night.

Ward has had enough rounds to be ready.....

Ward has gone 24 rounds and another training camp. He doesn't need anymore time to prepare for Kov. That's why he said if he isn't ready now he'll never be ready. Plus you forget Fonfara is in the Hunter camp so he's had excellent sparring with a really big strong LHW. Ward will be ready and razor sharp.

Did Sanchez just admit he's not a real good trainer??? I mean he just said his own trained fighter Didn't even belong in the ring with Ward??? WTF was he training him for then??? To lose?? Sht no wonder why he dropped Sanchez. He had one job and one job only! Train Barrera to beat Ward. Come up with a plan that will beat the other boxer.

          Damn!!!

Abel makes good points here but at the end of the day, it's still Ward were talking about and it isn't easy to predict the outcome. Either way, it's going to be exciting to watch.

Sanchez can be a grade 1 asshat sometimes, but it's like there's a Pavlovian response at work here. It's not like the opinion he expressed is that controversial or uncommon ... it might well be that he proves to be wrong, but the dude's allowed to say how he thinks it'll go down.

Huh? Or maybe the guy just thinks that Kovalev wins. It's not like he's the only one. Not everything revolves around Golovkin, man. Dude gets asked the question cos he used to train Sergei - he not supposed to give his take?

Oh, and Hopkins - Tarver was pretty big. $5 mil for Bernard ($3.5 mil for Tarver) hard to see where he would have got that at 160. That's not to belittle the move or the win, but yeah. It's almost never just for greatness.

Ward is ready. He is experienced to know what he needs for preparation. If he loses, he wont give any excuses.

Sanchez is right that being active against high level opponents is what makes a fighter sharp and takes him to the peak of his abilities.

I would have liked to see Ward ideally get two more good foes in before Kovalev. But it is too late for that now, Andre has to bring it and perform as is.

He wasn't calling Kov a ducker or anything like that, just saying that fight didn't prepare him for Ward if Brand didn't prepare him for Kovalev.

I actually think Brand waas a godd pick because it allowed him to get rounds (Brand doesn't go down) and he got to try new things like going southpaw. He got to sharpen his tools while Kov had to use the tried and true kit to get past Chilemba.
