I have no problem with a fighter who has fought tons of top fighters in a lower weight class getting a shot at a higher weight class because the fighter already has fought top names. Floyd got his original shot at a title at 154 with 0 fights. Leonard did against Kalule, and many others. It is a fighter not having fought any top fighters to get a title shot that chaps my a$$.

Come on Richardt. Had Manny moved up to fight the champ, you'd have a point. You are well aware that Floyd and Leonard were lineal titlists that had defeated everyone that would fight them at 147.I have no problem with a fighter who has fought tons of top fighters in a lower weight class getting a shot at a higher weight class because the fighter already has fought top names. Who a fighter defeated coming up should have NO bearing on getting a fight at 154.
The situation with Manny and Margs is FAR worse than this as they not only passed over more worthy contenders to fight for a vacant title, Arum got Margs ranked at the top when he had 1 win at the weight and defeated no contenders either.Comment

I'm talking about stars getting shots vs guys who have never fought a solid contender being leapfrogged to a title shot. Floyd, Manny, and Leonard and others were big names in the sport and have that advantage. I don't care about the Marg details, that is off the tangent. Manny was a star like the other two and that is the common denominator. Manny, Floyd, and Leonard all got shots right off the bat because they were stars, regardless of details. Davis and Magdaleno did absolutely nothing to earn a title shot. Those are common denominators that form my viewpoint of the subject. Bottom line, 2 guys didn't pay their dues, 3 guys did. I could care less about the details behind each of the 3 guys getting their shots at higher weight classes, they were stars and that's what I look at.Come on Richardt.
