Pensacola, Florida: As Isaac "Golden Boy" Chilemba (24-4-2, 10 KOs) prepares to attempt to reclaim the NABF Light Heavyweight Title from Oleksandr "The Nail" Gvozdyk (11-0, 9 KOs) live on the Kovalev-Ward "Pound For Pound" HBO Pay-Per-View undercard from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada he will have former four-division world champion Roy Jones Jr. in his corner for the first time. Below Jones assesses the match-up and his observations of the young Malawi native:

roy was much more suited for 175 than ward is.

i just dont see how ward can drop kovalev's work rate if he cannot get his respect..kovalev's feet are just as dangerous as his hands..
once ward sees that roughing him up on the inside will not do teh trick we might see a beat down or a super ugly fight

stevenson kovalev is much better...shabranskyy prolly better than ward at 175 too

Ward has to stay close to Kovalev, stay right in his chest..that will lower Kovalevs workrate and not allow him to get the snap on his punches. If Ward stays on the outside he will be in the lions den so to speak.

Roy you bet your ass you would use your speed especially with Kovalev. I wonder if you knew all along you had a serious glass chin one of worst by a elite fighter since Floyd Patterson .

Roy's chin was never in question until he shot his body coming back down to LHW from HW. Prior to that Jones had only tasted the canvas once, against Del Valle. He got up then beat the dog siht out of Del Valle from then until the final bell. Roy had a beard on him. To say other wise is just hating IMO.

Yea, that transition took everything out of him. Speed, chin, and reflexes.

he's shortened up his shot sin multiple fight and he angles them well on the inside..i think ward has no shot..but like i've said in numerous places this is boxing and he is an atg if he pulls of this uphill battle...winner still has to fight stevenson

I think Roy beats both Kovalev swings at air all night. His speed was like spider man inhuman actually fought wrong not perfect style like Floyd. That's why when he lost a step can't defend against elite and power no chin. But when right amazing
