Nope not retired. He was on a podcast I listen to a month or two ago & said he's taking some time off for him & his family or something like that. Think he did a movie or doc or something to that took up some of his time.

Quillin isn't a cat who's thinking like most boxers in his position. He's a deeper cat who's thinking about his life & his future outside the ring more than most boxers ever do while in the middle of their boxing career. I think he's had one foot out of the sport for years so these layoffs he takes aren't surprising to me.

I met Pete at the last Lara fight in Miami. He spent a lot of time talking to fans, including myself. Took as many pictures as everyone wanted. Very warm guy. I agree, he's not like most professional fighters. I get this feeling he views boxing as merely a component of his life, a vehicle for him to get where he's going. Perhaps ultimately that's not a good thing for his career, but I do believe it makes for a fuller life. In any event, I see Pete regularly on Facebook. He's definitely training.

Dude doesn't love boxing and doesn't really care about having a legacy as a great boxer. I have also heard he is a really good guy, but as a boxing fan, it is hard to root for a guy like that (strictly in the ring).

I personally think he is very relieved that Jacobs knocked him out so quickly. He made a lot of money, yet he no longer has any pressure to be elite or face other top guys.

He's working with Virgil Hunter getting ready for a run at SMW. Like most have said, Quillin uses boxing for an income and not so much for a passion. Think he'll be taking some non-descript fights at 168 and call it a career.

                    He's not a bum

but he's definetly a coward who is bad for boxing

If he retires, nothing of value is lost
