They are showing Canelo that they have big options too. I think that's it. Remember they are negotiating the Canelo fight supposedly in private.

I really hope that's all it is, but it's such a bad look. Taking a 40 year old retired guy on his first fight back after 3 years (when he looked like hell in the Kessler rematch and the first Groves fight) would be grave robbing.

I DO think it would be a wise strategy to show Jacobs, Canelo, and all the greedy, would-be competitors that they don't need them. I do that in my business all the time and 90% of them time, they relent.
I really hope that's all they're doing here and I hope they pay attention to the backlash because it looks sad calling out Carl.

Look at ggg cherry picking on a guy a weight class heavier than him. I mean frotch is only ward's best win. Pshhh. Pathetic.

^This kind of fan is exactly why boxing is in the state it's in. Accepting, and even praising fights like this has created a sport awash in meaningless title fights and the best avoiding the best. If the customer is ignorant enough to be happy eating chuck steak at $38 a plate, why would a chef ever bother to use tenderloin?

I don't know how anyone could support GGG for even trying to make that fight, I understand that this is the business of prize fighting and money is a main goal but this is just ridiculous. Hopefully it never happens and that they find a way to fight Jacobs or any top 168 pounder who's NOT retired

So the 160 pound middle weight champ GGG goes from fighting welter weights to wanting to fight fighters who are 2 years into retirement? This dude is the definition of a coward.
