  • Comments Thread For: Lucas Matthysse Will Hire New Trainer: I Want World Title at 147

Tough contender Lucas Matthysse (37-4, 32KOs) of Argentina is hungry to capture world title in the welterweight division. Matthysse has been out of the ring since getting knocked out by Viktor Postol last October in Los Angeles, California. Matthysse was hit with a good shot directly on his eye, went down and stayed down for the full count. Afterwards, he said his eye was injured from the punch and he didn't want to risk the possibility of suffering a long-term injury that would cause him to go blind.

    A little too late, bud.

You should had hired a new trainer and moved to the US long ago. And if the crew you had was really like family they would had understood the move without holding any grudges.

Glad to hear this Mattysee can still do some damage. Plenty of interesting fights at ww for him (Porter, Bradley, Khan, Vargas, Garcia, Guerro, Berto... ) Hopefully he finds a trainer that will help him improve on his defense.

Matthysee ain't winning no title at 147. Too small I'm afraid and no longer that one shot puncher.

Never say never. He spent his whole career at 140, even ballooned up to 164 overnight a couple years ago. I think he's going to be a beast at his new weight.
