I don't think he minds facing no hopers and scrubs at 160 until he cashes his golden ticket, why should he move up the money is at 160 in destroying overmatched opponents and facing Canelo, that fight will happen down the line if he waits until 2018-2019. I don't see it happening next year definitely not, GGG will need to show signs of decline and or accept a CW to make it happen, Canelo has a hugely fruitful future, if he faces GGG that guy will literally destroy a huge swath of his marketing ability. In many ways you can not blame Canelo he's looking after his earning ability as GGG is holding out at 160 to look out for his earning ability, it's frustrating knowing GGG could likely clear out 168 as he has 160 though I genuinely believe he is a special talent and is wasted but for his own financial gain at 160.

No way does Canelo Jacobs or anyone else for that matter south of 168 beat GGG, if you think Canelo or Jacobs would beat GGG you've been drinking the kool aid.

i dont really blame golovkin for trying to cash out against canelo before making the move north...but if what he says is true and nobody is willing to fight him at middle than he needs to go on and seek better challenges above rather than stagnating and wasting away what little may be left of his prime on cans and no hopers at 160...

i like canelo more than ggg but i thought it was a beezy move to collect the lineal middleweight title, call the man out and than retreat back down to 154...i would be rooting for canelo and think he has enough talent and physical ability to compete with ggg but i would expect golovkins hand to be raised after the final bell...hopefully they figure something out and get the fight done this year...

by the way,im of the opinion ggg should take the flat $10 mil if thats really what was offered to him...its more than he has ever made or can make with anybody else in the sport and should he win than he may very well becomes boxings "face" and topside from the business end of things from that point forward

K2 is promoting the fight; no different that Loeffler locked down terms with Oleg Herman on Golovkin's behalf, he's doing the same with Haymon on Jacobs' behalf. lol

The moment the fight goes to purse bid, Haymon stops talking to Loeffler, Haymon goes back into his fold and sees what the finalized package looks like for DiBella/Espinoza, and Loeffler sweats out the future of his company.

Although negotiations for mandatory title defense between Gennady Golovkin and Daniel Jacobs has been ongoing, one hold up was due to a formal request by Daniel Jacobs for a 60-40 purse split in Golovkin's favor should the fight go to purse bid (as opposed to the customary 75-25 split for the champion).

Unfortunately for Jacobs the WBA has denied his request in a unanimous vote, according to ******. Jacobs had hoped that his "regular" titleholder status might earn him a bigger piece of the pie. It won't - at least not through these means.

Golovkin holds the WBA's 'super title' at the weight, while Jacobs is the 'regular' champion. The two sides had until October 10th or a purse bid was going to be ordered. If it goes to a purse bid, the split is 75-25 in favor of Golovkin.

The two sides are negotiating the terms for an HBO televise date of December 10th, with the Barclays Center and Madison Square Garden as potentials venues to host the fight in New York City.

WBA President Gilberto Mendoza Jr. extended the purse bid deadline, according to information provided to the Los Angeles Times.

As BoxingScene.com previously reported, Jacobs' handlers have filed a request to modify the purse bid monetary terms to a 60-40 split.

Golovkin's promoter, Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions, made a request to the WBA for an immediate purse bid, but the sanctioning body would rather see both sides reach a deal and extended the purse bid date...

Should the fight go to a purse bid, it was create an interesting situation - because Golovkin is contracted to HBO, while Jacobs fights under the Premier Boxing Champions banner and Showtime. Jacobs has no problem with fighting Golovkin on HBO. But if Jacobs' manager/adviser Al Haymon wins the purse bid and wants to place the fight on a network outside of HBO's scope - will HBO allow it to happen or will Golovkin be forced to vacate his title.

When only one side wants the fight it apparently takes a Long time

Tom and the Hermann brothers wasted last February negotiating with GB for Canelo. Then they wasted this summer negotiating with Eubank. Now they've lost December negotiating with Haymon/Jacobs. It's sickening that these guys won't step up and that Tom & the Hermann's don't cut off sooner in order to preserve the dates.

I've already broken down why the "Haymon is a promoter" argument is silly; you've never seen Haymon book a venue, you've never seen Haymon talk to an athletic commision, you've never seen Haymon do any of the grunt work that you'd expect of a promoter.

And that "he even pays the fighters" is a joke too; Haymon Sports acts as a pass-through vehicle, getting the money from the parties who pay to the various fighter's LLCs. {even in the Chavez Jr example, the two checks clearly showed Chavez's company getting a check for the Showtime TV money, and then another check from the actual event (a double shot of shots, off of Chavez's name)}.

Haymon's aim, seemingly in the long run, is to move boxing to the point where the fighter takes the lead, not the promoter. Not everyone is going to be Floyd, but Floyd put up the money to stage his fight, Floyd put up the purse for his opponent, had his own camp promote the show, and then Floyd only made his only money on the event on the back end (having the TV guarantee from Showtime didn't hurt).

Danny Garcia's "tune-up fight" is Danny Garcia's show; DSG Promotions is on the marquee, Marshall Kaufman's King Promotions has been brought in to handle the logistics of putting on the fight, Garcia is partnering with a Philadelphia charity for the fight, and nearly all of the non-TV fights are featuring fighters from the Philadelphia area. DSG Promotions (my guess for the name of Danny Garcia's LLc) is going to get a check for appearing in the main event of the PBC on SpikeTV card, but DSG Promotions is also going to get a check for the proceeds of the physical event.

If you have the wherewithal, there's no real need to wait for a promoter to simply cut you a check.

K2, if they're worth anything as a company, must have a pretty decent idea of what they can project to get on the event; a legit sellout of MSG with two fighters in the main event having good profiles in NYC, HBO's license fee to broadcast, the sponsorship value for the fight in NYC, and the interest in the international TV rights for MW#1 vs MW#2.

The actual event can end up being bigger or smaller, but there's an idea for how big the event is. Why not have K2 offer a share on the event from their projection?

This Loeffler guy doesn't have a streak of decisiveness in his bones. Either you leave the Jacobs negotiations if it gets you nowhere or start negotiating with others like Eubanks, Saunders and Lara who are calling out Golovkin. This guy is wasting too much time as if his boy is getting younger. Impose deadlines or something, then move on.

He can't move on because 1)the WBA will strip Golovkin of one of his precious belts if he goes elsewhere, 2)Jacobs and his camp, for the negotiations to drag on this long, have apparently made it absolutely clear that they're not backing out of the fight, and 3)DiBella/Haymon seem to have a higher value for the fight on their side of the fence than Loeffler's been able to get from HBO/MSG.

The fight should've gone to purse bid a month ago, but Loeffler seem to have things pretty well crystalized in his mind that DiBella's pocket is deeper for the fight
