    Manny's jab work on Saturday

Not bad. Not bad at all. In fact it was arguably his best weapon of the fight. When was the last time we saw him excel with the jab like that?

I don't remember ever being able to say that Manny won because of his jab...but I think on Saturday, the consistency of that jab is what primarily carried him to the UD.

By the way here's the compubox jab breakdown

    Pacquiao

    Jabs thrown: 196
    Jabs landed: 46
    Jab land %: 23.5%

    Vargas

    Jabs thrown: 256
    Jabs landed: 34
    Jab land %: 13.3%

With Jessie's massive reach advantage, you'd think that he'd have the better jab numbers. But it was Manny who instead landed the jab at a much higher clip.

Excuse me, but these are not good numbers.

And Jessie Vargas is garbage, so that could be part of the equation.

In application, it was not great and had me cringing the way he was leaping in with it. You'd think he learned nothing from Marquez 4...
Jesse started timing him but Pac's chin (and Jesse's poor accuracy) helped Pac out.

Yeah I guess they're not exactly stellar numbers but I just rewatched the fight for the first time, and I thought that Manny controlled the back half of the fight with his jab. And that back half of the fight is where he took control.

there was a 4-5" height difference. not sure how you expect pac to land without leaning/lunging in? it wasn't like vargas was coming to him head down or anything.

By using feints and angles like he ended up doing later in the fight. It's called "Boxing" and you can learn more about it at a gym near you.

                Red you are stright Savage

every fighter Manny fought said his punching hard,so i allways wanted him to mix it to the body more ,his opponets now can focus on defending Head mostly, and even useing feints its not so easy vs bigger decent guy to land everything you want, with no risk

Nah his right hand was the punch of the night for him!

He knew Jessie was circling away from his left and wanted to time him with his 1-2 down the middle but Pac countered the counter with his own right hand! Brilliant stuff!

Pacquiao is much smarter than given credit for, I appreciate his new style where he buzzsaws just for a lil and wait out the counters then make a move!
.hes patient and smarter, not sure it makes more dangerous but maybe better in terms of health and his stamina inn the later rounds!

I need to watch it again, I almost felt down watching him because of how much he had slowed but sometimes you see things differently a second time around.
