Is Ward doing something Floyd never did on the 19th?

Yea, those fights were simply cash grabs. Unreal that fans not only accept being taken advantage of like that, but then they actually defend the fighters and promoters involved! Like a whore to her pimp. This right here. Enough of the Kell Brook vs GGG, Khan vs Canelo. People need to respect divisions properly and have (I can't believe how this is gonna sound but) yes essentially "tune up fights" to be able to be competitive in that division. There are exceptions for some fighters, Loma/Crawford I know, but when you have a chin of china and you go straight for Canelo and got put away by Prescott. Let's be honest. Was only going to end one way.
Two top guys agree to make a proper fight, something that's a rare commodity these days, and we have spineless trolls bashing one or the other. Sad, sad.Comment

Wow! What an idiotic thread!he's fighting a top 3 P4P fighter IN HIS PRIME!!!
not sure if Corrales was ranked that high at the time but other than him I can't think of anyone Floyd fought in their primes as good as kovalev(or highly ranked at least)
so why all the hate for Ward? is it just GGG fans hating on him? I love watching GGG fight but Ward deserves a ton of credit for this upcoming fight.Comment

Why not both? When you are being compared to some of the GOAT then you should really have wins that check both those boxes. That is the one big criticism of Floyd's resume I would say.Comment

Yeah hindsight is a wonderful thing, and in hindsight the Ring definitely got overexcited about Corrales but I can see why they ranked him that high, you would understand if you followed boxing during that period.
At the time Corrales was 32-0 with 27 KO's, he had beaten Robert Garcia, Derek Gainer, Justin Juuko, and Angel Manfredy, and knocked them all out.
GGG right now is p4p number 3, is 36-0 with 33 KO's, has a bit more longevity but weaker competition than Corrales had at that point in his career.
This is why seeing a fighter against A - level competition is so important before you anoint someone as the second coming, because when Corrales stepped in with A - level fighters you saw that he wasn't the fighter that you thought he was. Levels changes things in any sport.
Make of that what you will. You can take a number of points and views from my breakdown but me personally, I always reserve strong judgments or showering a fighter with praise until I have the evidence to back that opinion up.Comment

Corrales was definitely prime and P4P. Floyd also fought Canelo in his prime and he is bigger and P4P but was inexperienced. Ward definitely earns respect by doing this fight. Krusher is prime, bigger and hasn't shown any *****s in the armor. What Ward is doing would be Mayweather fighting GGG.he's fighting a top 3 P4P fighter IN HIS PRIME!!!

I don't remember Mayweather fighting a top 3 pound for pound guy in his prime. Corrales was a respected fighter but never close to top 3 pound for pound to the best of my memory. I have never hated Ward and I respect his great fighting ability but I have never been a Ward fan. Just fighting Kovalev won't top Mayweather in any way because Mayweather has never lost a fight. If Ward beats Kovalev then he has done something Mayweather never did by beating a top 3 pound for pound fighter in that fighter's prime.he's fighting a top 3 P4P fighter IN HIS PRIME!!!
