that was canelos moment though. the fight where the torch was going to be passed, the fight where the aging floyd mayweather was going to finally lose that 0. And then when it came round to it, mayweather whooped him for 12 rounds without even breaking a sweat. I did what you all are doing now, i bought into the hype, i had persuaded myself that canelo was going to give mayweather problems he hadnt seen since the castillo fight, boy was i wrong

I hate when cats take a very minority held opinion & act like its the standard opinion. No one with solid to high level boxing knowledge &/or opinions thinks Canelo is a master f#cking boxer lol. He's far from a master boxer.

Casuals see him move around his upper body and all of the sudden he's Sweet Pea or something.

Canelo is who he was and always has been: A low IQ puncher with solid fundamentals but bricks for feet. Nothing more, nothing less.

Just because he has a large fanbase doesn't make him a better fighter than he is.

People who expect him to do better than anyone has thus far against Golovkin are in for a real rude awakening if they ever fight.

pretty much agree with all of this. he does do some great combo punches for sure, but his footwork, defence and ring IQ let him down heavily, and contrary to what people believe golovkins ring iq and footwork is exceptional, working with sanchez hasnt suddenly eradicated all of his boxing skill from the amateurs like some people make out. Also dont know why people take it for granted that his punch resistance will carry up to 160, cause what good power punchers has he been in with even at 154? I cant see many on his CV. I dont know why people assume he cantake GGG's, jacobs and even lemieuxs punches with no effect.

doesnt really seem that great a 'boxer' when trying to outbox khan, if khan wasnt packing china and it was fair judges he could have been looking at a wide points loss. Why i think the same thing would happen if he fought mayweather again, he'd lose every round.
