Comments Thread For: Arum Expects Gilberto Ramirez, Felix Verdejo Back in January

Two of the brightest up and coming stars in Top Rank's deep stable of fighters are unbeaten WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez (34-0, 24KOs) and undefeated lightweight contender Felix "Diamante" Verdejo (22-0, 15KOs) - who have both been on the shelf with injuries.

Arum needs to start pairing his guys up like HBO does with GGG and Gonzalez. No1 wants to watch TR cards with 1 headline guy on it anymore. Verdejo and Ramirez I think would appeal to Latinos throughout the USA.

January is too early of a start for Verdejo; he looked very swollen after hitting his head in that accident. I mean, sure, they might be able to find opponents easy enough for him to beat handily, but, in my opinion, making sure he recovered as much as possible before fighting again should have been more important. I would've waited until at least June.

All signs point to the JuanMa route for Verdejo, which is unfortunate considering that, with more dedication and better training/technique, he could do a lot in this sport.
