Yes, the specifics were different. But the principle is EXACTLY the same.
NOBODY accepts a flat fee from a huge fight that generates millions in revenue.
The fight realistically grosses $70-80m plus.
Canelo doesn't deserve 75% of the purse.
Canelo is right now the biggest star in the sport. GGG can't negotiate **** because his ppv couldn't break 100k. Add the fact he hasn't fought any big name and does not bring anything to the table. It's the main reason why he can't get fights because he brings no money to the table and fighters can get paid more fighting bums than fighting him(Danial Jacob for example)

Have a nice day.
What issue do you have with the step-aside?
There was no point in enforcing the mandatory at that stage.

Canelo doesn't damn sure deserve 80%.
Get real.
He's just done 250-300,000 buys against Smith. And those figures are similar to what he did against Angulo, Trout, Lara and Kirkland etc. Yes, he's a bigger name than GG, and yes, he deserves more. But he is not a big PPV attraction, unless he's in fights with huge names.
A GG fight gives him his biggest payday. Again, fights against Manny and a rematch with Floyd are unrealistic, and a Cotto rematch would probably bomb.
GG is considered the "Man" at the weight, his popularity is increasing all of the time, and he has 3 of the 4 belts.
If Canelo draws 300,000 buys against the likes of Smith, but a GG fight would do well over 1 million, how on earth does he deserve an 80% split?
Both guys need each other.

You guys need to wake up.
His last PPV bombed, he's under enormous pressure to fight GG, his options are limited, and if/when Jacobs and BJS have been taken out of the equation, there won't be any other relevant fights at the weight.
He doesn't bring anything to the table? Oh my. You mean apart from being responsible for making the fight HUGE, which would give Canelo his biggest payday, plus the chance to fight for 3 belts and repair his reputation??Last edited by robertzimmerman; 11-12-2016, 10:02 PM.

Posters here are mostly boxing accountants who defend protected bums, cowards and Boxing Divas and shit on the last remaining real fighters who keep the sport alive. Boxing would be dead without GGG, Kovalev and a couple others.
