RichTurd Schaeffer is clearly salty about GBP, the top promotional outfit in the game, actually flourishing after he was gone. Now he's just a Golden Boy stalker like Roid Pedcheater and Rob Arscum. Oscar is the czar of Boxing. That's all there is to it.

The thing is they have more than 2 names that can be headliners for HBO. Outside of the guys I named Vargas, Diaz, and of course Canelo. They also have guys like Lemieux, Linares and Lucas who could also headline fights.
Then they have the next wave of guys like Diego De La Hoya, Slava, Gomez, and Orozco who are on their way to becoming guys who are ready for title opportunities.
Mikey Garcia is the crown ***el I guess you can say of RGBA but your banking a lot on Schaefer getting him opportunities just by the snap of his fingers not sure that's realistic right now. Not to mention he's not signed exclusively yet to Schaefer.
RGBA prospects under Golden Boy Promotions are getting more exposure than guys who are under other banners. Think about it from this perspective Franco, Tanajara, Gamez, Navarro have all been on the Canelo undercard since and Estrella TV televised portion of their telecast. If they don't get that they still get seen on Ring TV Live so why would Robert Garcia go another direction? They can get seen from their debuts onward. That builds their fan bases that much faster.
Oscar is past his demons and has a strong team supporting him.
No idea how talented the guys in your next "wave" are, but Oscar has such **** relationships with everyone else that I doubt he's able to secure a title shot for those guys anytime soon.
Franco, Tanajara, Gamez, and Navarro, combined, don't even have 20 fights under their belt (and have been on TV how many times?), yet you want to hang your hat on that.
Mikey Garcia has drawn significant interest from Showtime to air his fights, and working with Schaefer plugs Garcia further into the PBC/Haymon orbit (with a great interest in the fight cards being put on in CA/NV, with Mikey maybe even having a bit of a following on the East Coast).
You look down the PBC fight cards that have been put on, and your consistently looking at 9 and 10-fight cards (with Haymon/PBC controlling the 3-4 top/televised fights, and the actual promoter being given pretty much free reign to fill in the remaining 6 fights).
TGB Promotions put on 15 televised shows this year (10 of which were in SoCal); how many did Golden Boy? To try and act as if there's this massive audience for Estrella TV (which likely is a bigger audience than Ring TV Live) is laughable.
Schaefer plugs them into that, plus has the ability to go with his own shows; Garcia can basically have his guys as active as they want to be on the California PBC cards, ramping up far faster than Oscar is likely able to do with Robert's guys that are signed to Golden Boy.Comment

Your right Canelo as compared to years past was under matched severely and us fans demonstrated that but not buying Smith 300K (probably less) compared to Khan 400K. Hopefully that's an eye opener for GBP.
As far as developing talent guys like Jo Jo Diaz, Slava, Antonio Orozco are on the brink of title opportunities. So yeah they are developing talent the right way.
Now the year isn't out yet and no they haven't signed any Olympians yet but I'm sure they will hopefully sign a few if possible. Seems like Top Rank, Eddie Hearns are the main promotions signing this crop of Olympians so far.
But Golden Boy has signed Gamez, Valdez, Diaz, Ortiz, etc....this year that where highly decorated amateurs. So yes Golden Boy are still signing plenty of young talent.
They have their Estrella and Ring TV Live platform. They gotten opportunities on HBO this year. So while it was a down year from last year they still are growing their business from ground up.Comment
