When promoters refuse to make fights for any reason other than something that is relevant to their own fighters, it is a problem. Promoters should be like good referees, doing their jobs but not the main attraction. Boxing is slowly losing ground to the UFC. Not because of bad boxers, but because of bad promoters. Go through the list without being bias and you will see many great match ups that did not happen because of promoters. SMS, Top Rank, Golden Boy, Gooden Promotions, Dibella Entertainment,Don King Gary Shaw, Goosen, Main Events, etc. Caring about whether or not its your favorite promoter putting on a "good fight" is about as bad as caring about which fighter makes the most money. Either way, NONE of the money goes into your pockets. Good fighters fighting each other is all that matters.

Sorry but Canelo as of now is the top name in the sport. Their are probably 5 guys in the sport who could sell over 50,000 tickets and one is retired and the other just came out of retirement.

How is Golden Boy Promotions a Sinking ship? They put shows on twice sometimes 3 times a month. Has a network Estrella that they work with, their own Ring TV Live platform, and still does shows with HBO. So again while this year wasn't as strong as the previous two. Their still a major force in the business.

again biggest star in a sport that currently lacks attractions. His ppv numbers as an A side pale in comparison to what guys like Oscar, Floyd pac and even Trinidad did. Go on Golden boys website and look at their roster of fighters. Aside from Canelo it looks like roster comparable to what Lou Dibella has. His roster isn't even strong enough to put on an intriguing ppv undercard anymore.

Why does Gomez care if RS has the fighter under contract if the fighter has elected to have RS represent them in negotiations. By Gomez saying that he basically he giving GBP an out when it comes to making fights with RS. The last statement by Gomez was bs and a underhanded shot at RS for not having fighters under contract at GB.
The only fighter that Gomez should be concerned about as to if he/she is under contract is the fighter GB reps. Point blank period. That statement makes him look salty

Joseph Diaz Jr is definitely a legit prospect coming along (I'll admit that I haven't seen every JoJo Diaz fight, but I'm definitely a fan). Wouldn't hold my breath on Vargas getting another shot (unless he gets lined up against Vasyl Lomachenko for a fight). Still, two names doesn't amount to plenty.

Robert Garcia may have 5 of the fighters in his gym with Golden Boy, but I'm fairly confident to think that Garcia also has 4-5 fighters with Arum (while likely having 20-25 kids fighting in his gym, at the least).

Mikey Garcia is the "crown ***el" of RGBA, Mikey Garcia is drawing heavy interest from Showtime to feature his fights, Robert Garcia seems to have confidence in Schaefer's ability to do the job promoting, and Golden Boy Promotions had all of 5 HBO dates in 2016 (2 of those were PPV dates on HBO).

Mikey Garcia ends up with 3 dates per year on Showtime (with Schaefer handling the logistics of building up the shows in NV/CA) and Schaefer gets the content deal for FS1, why in the heck would Robert Garcia send his guys to Oscar and a Ring TV Live situation that no one actually tunes in for?

Schaefer has shown himself to be a stand-up individual; everyone that has done business with him besides Oscar speaks the world of the man.

Oscar De La Hoya, from a business structure standpoint is down to himself, Eric Gomez, Robert Diaz and Bernard Hopkins (with Hopkins going as far as putting contingencies on Oscar); one more relapse and, in my opinion, all hell breaks lose.

The thing is they have more than 2 names that can be headliners for HBO. Outside of the guys I named Vargas, Diaz, and of course Canelo. They also have guys like Lemieux, Linares and Lucas who could also headline fights.

Then they have the next wave of guys like Diego De La Hoya, Slava, Gomez, and Orozco who are on their way to becoming guys who are ready for title opportunities.

Mikey Garcia is the crown ***el I guess you can say of RGBA but your banking a lot on Schaefer getting him opportunities just by the snap of his fingers not sure that's realistic right now. Not to mention he's not signed exclusively yet to Schaefer.

RGBA prospects under Golden Boy Promotions are getting more exposure than guys who are under other banners. Think about it from this perspective Franco, Tanajara, Gamez, Navarro have all been on the Canelo undercard since and Estrella TV televised portion of their telecast. If they don't get that they still get seen on Ring TV Live so why would Robert Garcia go another direction? They can get seen from their debuts onward. That builds their fan bases that much faster.

Oscar is past his demons and has a strong team supporting him.

OK so you just named 1 big name fighter and mainly a bunch of telefutura level fighters when it comes to popularity. Linares and vargas aren't going to bring in any big ratings on any major cable network and the rest of the guys are even lesser names than those two.

Again I said levels. Canelo brings huge numbers. Vargas brought solid numbers vs Salido. Linares is a question mark.

The Machine and Lemieux also do solid numbers.

Again your argument is Golden Boy Promotions has minimal talent which simply isn't the case. They have guys who are established, guys who are up and coming, and guys who are ready for title opportunities.
