You get hired and paid to do a job...doesnt mean you built the company you work for.
Say what you want about oscar but it takes guts and alot of balls to go on national tv and admit that it was him on those pics and not photoshoped and that he had problems
He tried to hide it. Blame photoshop and even paid the striper millions to keep quiet.

He also admited to the problems later too. And i doubt he's done with them

But good for him for getting help.

If so and they have the finances they may be able to build up some guys but they rarely have any televised shows outside of canelo's to promote.
Your right Canelo as compared to years past was under matched severely and us fans demonstrated that but not buying Smith 300K (probably less) compared to Khan 400K. Hopefully that's an eye opener for GBP.

As far as developing talent guys like Jo Jo Diaz, Slava, Antonio Orozco are on the brink of title opportunities. So yeah they are developing talent the right way.

Now the year isn't out yet and no they haven't signed any Olympians yet but I'm sure they will hopefully sign a few if possible. Seems like Top Rank, Eddie Hearns are the main promotions signing this crop of Olympians so far.

But Golden Boy has signed Gamez, Valdez, Diaz, Ortiz, etc....this year that where highly decorated amateurs. So yes Golden Boy are still signing plenty of young talent.

They have their Estrella and Ring TV Live platform. They gotten opportunities on HBO this year. So while it was a down year from last year they still are growing their business from ground up.

Sorry but Canelo as of now is the top name in the sport. Their are probably 5 guys in the sport who could sell over 50,000 tickets and one is retired and the other just came out of retirement.

How is Golden Boy Promotions a Sinking ship? They put shows on twice sometimes 3 times a month. Has a network Estrella that they work with, their own Ring TV Live platform, and still does shows with HBO. So again while this year wasn't as strong as the previous two. Their still a major force in the business.

As a consumer, I'm not concerned with who puts on the fights that I like. I just want to see good, competitive fights. Schaefer, as part of Golden Boy, would not do business with Bob Arum. Quite petty. If we are fans of the sport, support the fights and fighters with our financial backing, why would some promoters pride and ego as it relates to any other promoter in the business matter to us? I sincerely hope that these promoters work with each other. Far too many good fights did not and have not happened because of this type of foolishness.

Schaefer had five years to get May/Pac done? Does anybody really put that on Schaefer? We all know Floyd ran his own show. That was between Arum and Floyd.

Perfect example Jo Jo Diaz has been on every HBO platform this year from World Championship boxing to HBO Latino to HBO Pay Per View. Francisco Vargas had also had the opportunity to headline a card if he didn't suffer those cuts I'm sure he would have gotten another opportunity. So Golden Boy Promotions has plenty of talent that HBO is interested in.

Robert Garcia has 5 fighters signed to Golden Boy Promotions and I'm sure he will send more their way. Hell Oscar wanted to do co-promoted shows with the Garcia but I guess that fell through. So why would either side want to burn that bridge if they have a solid working relationship? Makes no sense.

Ring TV Live is a platform that is working well to develop and get a lot of exposure to prospects so they can already started to establish a fan base.

Schaefer is a smart business man there's no doubt. But fans make it seem like he's going to put Oscar out of business and theirs no way that will happen.
Joseph Diaz Jr is definitely a legit prospect coming along (I'll admit that I haven't seen every JoJo Diaz fight, but I'm definitely a fan). Wouldn't hold my breath on Vargas getting another shot (unless he gets lined up against Vasyl Lomachenko for a fight). Still, two names doesn't amount to plenty.

Robert Garcia may have 5 of the fighters in his gym with Golden Boy, but I'm fairly confident to think that Garcia also has 4-5 fighters with Arum (while likely having 20-25 kids fighting in his gym, at the least).

Mikey Garcia is the "crown ***el" of RGBA, Mikey Garcia is drawing heavy interest from Showtime to feature his fights, Robert Garcia seems to have confidence in Schaefer's ability to do the job promoting, and Golden Boy Promotions had all of 5 HBO dates in 2016 (2 of those were PPV dates on HBO).

Mikey Garcia ends up with 3 dates per year on Showtime (with Schaefer handling the logistics of building up the shows in NV/CA) and Schaefer gets the content deal for FS1, why in the heck would Robert Garcia send his guys to Oscar and a Ring TV Live situation that no one actually tunes in for?

Schaefer has shown himself to be a stand-up individual; everyone that has done business with him besides Oscar speaks the world of the man.

Oscar De La Hoya, from a business structure standpoint is down to himself, Eric Gomez, Robert Diaz and Bernard Hopkins (with Hopkins going as far as putting contingencies on Oscar); one more relapse and, in my opinion, all hell breaks lose.

Schaefer was the one that tried to make Mares-Donaire, among other fights between the companies (when Arum ran his mouth about the money not being there, Schaefer offered to be the one to take the risk on the fight, yet was rebuffed by Arum).

If a party is more than happy to talk up fights in the press, yet never even seriously try to make fights at the negotiating table, eventually you just say "**** them" and move on.

In the last 6 years (since the start of the decade), how many shows has Bob Arum actually co-promoted with anyone? As a matter of fact, point to the last time (beyond Mayweather-Pacquiao, where he was basically sonned by Floyd) where Arum actually shared an event with anyone.

people need to open their eyes

Love how he makes it known "fighters under his contract"
Very different situations. Oscar seems to think he can do the exact same thing with Alvarez/Golovkin and doesn't realize how different they are.
