Golden Boy is still a power house with the biggest attraction in the sport. They need to continue developing their young talent to go with their established talent they already have.

Golden Boy has one fighter, with no other fighter under their banner (besides Hopkins for his farewell fight) worthy of HBO investing a TV date(s) in.

Ringstar Sports is just coming out of the gate, but Golden Boy is about to be hurting real bad (especially if the brewing move of Mikey Garcia to working with Schaefer, along with the unsigned fighters that RGBA has coming along, actually comes about); Schaefer has the working relationship with Haymon, Schaefer was the one that got Golden Boy the FS1 deal (with Ringstar having the inside track on the same deal if PBC goes elsewhere), and Schaefer likely has the financial backing to undergird his own prospects as he moves things along.

I wouldn't say powerhouse, but you're right in they have the biggest attraction in the sport, but they don't utilize him as they should. As far as developing their talent, did they get any of the Olympic prospects? If so and they have the finances they may be able to build up some guys but they rarely have any televised shows outside of canelo's to promote.

Oscar was the "face" of the company but not the brains.

Schaefer built the company.

When Schaefer was at GB, GB had regular dates on Univision, HBO and HBO Latino, with occasional dates on Showtime and ESPN. Then later HBO kicked GB out of HBO, so GB switched to Showtime.

What does GB have now under Oscar's leadership? Half a date here or there on (split with another promoter) on HBO, HBO PPV dates for Canelo (with Canelo's PPV buys steadily declining), and no Univision, FS1 or ESPN. Putting fights on the internet for free doesn't pay the bills.

Golden Boy has plenty of talent outside of Canelo that will be on the HBO Platform. Perfect example Jo Jo Diaz has been on every HBO platform this year from World Championship boxing to HBO Latino to HBO Pay Per View. Francisco Vargas had also had the opportunity to headline a card if he didn't suffer those cuts I'm sure he would have gotten another opportunity. So Golden Boy Promotions has plenty of talent that HBO is interested in.

Robert Garcia has 5 fighters signed to Golden Boy Promotions and I'm sure he will send more their way. Hell Oscar wanted to do co-promoted shows with the Garcia but I guess that fell through. So why would either side want to burn that bridge if they have a solid working relationship? Makes no sense.

Ring TV Live is a platform that is working well to develop and get a lot of exposure to prospects so they can already started to establish a fan base.

Schaefer is a smart business man there's no doubt. But fans make it seem like he's going to put Oscar out of business and theirs no way that will happen.

the biggest attraction in the sport that only did 290k ppv in his last fight. Thats like being the smartest in a class of ******s doesn't make you necessarily smart. Just because Canelo does higher ppv numbers than others doesn't make him a superstar nor an attraction capable of sustaining the sinking ship of Golden boy.
