HBO Sports reported today that 875,000 pay-per-view buys and $43.8 million in pay-per-view revenue was generated from last Saturday’s super welterweight title fight featuring Oscar De La Hoya and Ricardo Mayorga at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The fight was promoted by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Don King Productions. The MGM Grand Hotel & Casino was the host site. [details]

Thats incredible, I don't even remember the last fight that pulled of those numbers. Mayweather-De la Hoya is going to make a million buys for sure. But then again it was Cindo de Mayo weekend, so they'd have to make it on a good weekend for it to suceed. Wow incredible I thought it would do 400k for sure, but 875k? Thats shocking.Comment

Yes just ppv orders in the United States. Well it wasn't aired for free the Uk channel paid big bucks to be able to relay it on its station, so they made money from whatever price they negotiated to air the fight.Originally posted by Shanus16

Mayorgo doesn't deserve more than 2 million because he doesn't draw the crowds.
The numbers show everybody that Oscar will get twice as much as Mayweather if they fight because he draws in 2x+ more people.
I think Mayweather thinks he is entitled to 15-20 million in his mind, but in the end, Oscar gets his food firstComment
