    Yup... still the "way-too-lax" defense...

Yup. It was really surprising that the trainer basically almost KO'd him... well, I guess it's not really surprising, just unexpected! Gave him a welt as well as a reminder...

So, agree, Juanma should pack it in.

So, what's the argument for suspending the trainer? That he didn't let himself get pummeled by JuanMa? That almost seemed to be Dan Rafael's argument over Twitter when it first happened; he was acting like if everything were the trainer's fault. I'm assuming ESPN told him to change his story/re-watch the video. There's no basis for the punishment.

The only thing I can glean from this all is that JuanMa, for his own safety, should stay away from Gamboa/Salido or whomever. He's not who he used to be, as the fight with the trainer proved. JuanMa was almost KO'ed by him. That should never happen to a top fighter, even if a trainer knows a lot about boxing. Not only from a physical aspect, but also taking into account that JuanMa's attack pattern exposed the flaws he's always had and never corrected. In his current condition, he shouldn't be getting hit anymore.

And I like JuanMa, by the way. I used to train alongside him at the very first gym I ever went to (before I went to Cotto's.) He's a nice enough guy, but it's time for him to consider protecting himself from long-term damage. I know that he has a lot of enthusiasm for fighting, so to speak (I remember when as a 5'6, 15 yearold, I was tricked--gym trainers said it was going to be light work--into sparring a 365 pound, 6'6-ish heavyweight on steroids, and JuanMa was chatting it up with the man in a clique-esque way after I had to fake a knockdown in order to protect myself from unnecessary damage. In other words, JuanMa enjoys the fight-game.), but there comes a time where every athlete has to protect himself.

In my case, although I'm sure I could've been a great professional, I knew my life would be better off learning, and despite the economic crisis, I'm still satisfied with the choice made. With time, I've realized that this sport destroys people and should be banned. I'm glad I didn't continue. JuanMa must also have the courage to know when it's best to move on. I wish him the best.
The trainer threw a mouth piece at him. Said let's go and stepped in the ring. Sure he goaded Juanma but NO trainer should be throwing sht in the ring at a fighter and saying "Let's GO"!!! All Juanma was doing was celebrating the stoppage...

Automatic suspension for stepping in the ring. The ref was checking on the fighter and the trainer stepped in the ring which is just as bad as stepping in when they're fighting. He'll probably be suspended for a year. Plus if they prove he threw something at the fighter he's in more trouble...

I forgot it was waved off. It still looks like something was thrown from the trainers direction??? We'll see in the next couple of weeks...
