Lets Talk About The Canelo/Golovkin Situation

In my opinion it may be in GGG interest to get as much as possible but try to make the fight happen. Canelo would be only fighter at 160 where he can get a huge payday. If he wins there is nobody left to justify a huge payday unless moving up. If he loses the invincible aura is gone and would never get the same fighting someone else at 160.
Canelo is also a flight risk meaning that at any point he can decide screw GGG, i'll go in another direction and there goes the money.Comment

The fight doesn't happen any sooner if he accepts that "offer" right now, and he potentially loses out on a better deal where he brings all 4 titles and bigger star power to the table. If this was the other way around, and Golovkin walked away from his mandatory spot because of a vague idea of a fight in a year, then offered Alvarez some random deal for that fight, no one would support him.
The situation is that Alvarez ducked the fight, won't even consider it until September 2017, and nothing Golovkin can do right now changes that. Taking the offer does nothing but potentially screw him. If Alvarez actually wants the fight for next year, Golovkin can take the offer then.
Everything until then is empty bull**** made to save face after Alvarez handed over his belt and his balls rather than fight Gennady Golovkin.Last edited by bojangles1987; 10-31-2016, 01:06 PM.Comment

If beating GGG has no value to Alvarez, then fans need to stop talking about this fight and move on. But go ahead and resume talking about who ducked who if that makes you happy. Most fights happen because fighters want to win, or beat the opponent.
Fight will eventually happen, just like the May/Pac. You can't rush someone who doesn't want it now. Give him time even if it will take five years.Comment
