If I didn't know who the hell Trinidad was and saw him in a bar or something I would probably think, "Hey I can kick his butt". Same with Juan Diaz I mean that kid definitely looks like a regular college student with no real prominent six pack or muscles.

especially Oscar, who would think that guy could kick somebodies ass

Bo fought when he was younger, never lost.
The bench press was just to show his natural strength; remember, the guy didn't like to lift weights and was heavily muscled simply because he had great genetics.

You also have to remember that he was a Full-Back/Running-Back...these guys take hits and give hits for a living.

His ability to run is partially due to his ability to move his arms quick, so that at least may give him the ability to throw fast punches...add that to his strength, chances are he could probably punch.

He could also throw a baseball hard and hit far.

Bo called himself the "Gotti" of his neighborhood
Sure a ton of fighters fought in the amateurs and never lost.. even some do it in the pros for a while then retire having beat bums.. I'd be surprised if he didn't make a decent amateur.. but a top pro needs unnatural talent and speed, which he may or may not have had. As I said, I bet a lot of failed heavyweight boxers were as strong as if not stronger than Bo Jackson... Throwing a baseball and moving fast arms when running unfortunately have nothing to do with punching. I can't imagine Mike Tyson making a good baseball player.

not to mention they usually have smaller heads, thin necks, lighter frames despite their weight, etc.
That is why I say, pound for pound, if you shrink them down to a guy that is about 6'1, how much would they weigh?

Shaq is really one of the few really big, thick, big guys.
That "falling" down part is part of the strategy to get foul shots. Their heads look small coz their bodies are larger than average.

          Uhhh i'll give you trinidad.
          Yeah, so....they aren't athletic. LOL.

          They're in boxing shape...and cut...but that's normal.

Here is the problem with your argument Snoop...

Im not saying that you can take some football player and make him a champ because you cant...what I and many others are saying is that if you took someone like Bo Jackson or like Javon Kearse and introduced them to boxing at a very young age and had them participate just like they did with Pop Warner football then they would have a shot and doing something special in the sport based upon their freakish talent.

Sure we dont know what they will do when they get cracked but that same questioned applies to everyone including fighters.

Your looking at the argument wrong, no athlete no matter how great can walk into the sport of boxing or any pro sport for that matter and become king...look at Mr. Jordan and baseball.

The hypothetical in this case must be phrased as such...."IF BO JACKSON WERE TO HAVE NEVER PLAYED FOOTBALL AND INSTEAD STARTED BOXING AT THE AGE OF 8 DO YOU THINK HE COULD HAVE MADE IT AS A TOP NOTCH PROFESSIONAL FIGHTER?

Do you understand what Im saying here sir?

Well the same can be said for the Klitchoes, Lennox, Byrd, John Ruiz, Rid**** Bowe, Razor Ruddock, Larry Holmes and even George Foreman in his young days had an NBA type of body. I've seen these guys in person and they have huge biceps and triceps and chest however due to there height it appears slightly above average.

                A lot?

I don't know about that..first off, he was said to be one of the strongest Football players ever, no matter the size or position.

but a top pro needs unnatural talent and speed, which he may or may not have had
                What does that mean exactly?
are we talking about the fact that he was naturally a 220+ pound athlete at the age of 18?
or was it the fact that he could run a 40 yard dash what was said to be 4.18/4.2 seconds...or maybe his ability to shift from side to side on the football field...or the hand eye cordination it takes to hit a baseball.

I thought the question was about the general atheletes and not specific to one person. Bo Jackson is a special case. He's gifted with the physical attributes to be good in any sport. People said the same thing about Michael Grant, he was a gifted athelete who decided to take boxing but only got so far.

I'm going by results and practical application of the sport of basketball translating to boxing's movements.

And you don't have to call me "sir". You're making me blush.

All right, I will give you that

George did have a Power Forward like body, I guess, but the guy was still freakish when it came to strength. You also have to remember a lot more of these guys in the NBA are lifting weights, George wasn't doing this when he was young. I still say the majority are not like George, only the minority; plus, the guy has a thick skull and seems to have thicker bone density.
