Apparently he still holds the British and European titles? Could defend those two along with the WBC Silver against either Groves or Murray. Even Jamie Cox, I think, would be a good fight.

if you mean that he is not useing his size good and thats why he is easy to hit,you are right imo.
Yeah, that's what I mean. With his height and reach he should be using his jab more in both offense and defence. A good, long, sharp jab is the best way to keep shorter guys at bay and stop them getting close enough to land anything.

I've noticed that Smith tends to shell up behind a high guard when punches are coming at him. That's risky because it gives your opponent a chance to probe for openings and wind up with something big if he finds any.

With Smith's height and reach, he shouldn't need to rely on shelling up like that.

For me he fights more like Rios,he punch inside, his offens in distance is not sharp or effective,im not confident about him also about his trainers.
Edit:yep this shelling up is pretty bad

He does seem to be hyped. The Matchroom/Sky lot seem to think he's the best SMW in the world somehow. Then again, DeGale isn't really working with Hearn now, if he was fighting in the UK under Hearn still they would be saying it about him.

He hasn't done anything. The SMW division is weak at the moment though, especially following on from the era of Froch, Ward, Kessler etc.

I've always felt he's rather ordinary but he'll still no doubt win a world title just cause he's so big. He's the biggest smw I've ever seen by far.
He's like 6ft4 and probably walks around at 200lbs
As long as he can make weight safely he'll be a problem

He is the best prospect of the brothers, for sure. Think Stephen and Liam are better technically at this stage, especially in defence, but he has pretty frightening power and size on his side (as well as time, most importantly). Agree with others that he really, really needs to step up his competition levels if he's going to improve to genuine world level, but if I'm being honest I'd already pick him to get Sturm out of there within 8.

I cant believe nobody has mentioned his fight a few months back with that Argentine....when I saw that I knew he was another euro-level bum...some of you actually need to start watching fights and stop reading so many articles pretending to know what your are talking about. Man Callum sucks! If I remember correctly he was busted up with that short Argentinian he was bleeding getting caught repeatedly ; getting out worked just bad.....horrible... even Sky commentators eluded that he was not ready for anyone at the top...but thankfully the ref helped him get the stoppage. Theres a reason why he hasn't been put in there with George Groves -- If Groves wasn't so chiny I favor him to be honest.

Edit: I posted the fight have a look, see how he was getting worked over by this guy that was about 4 inches shorter and had about maybe a five inch disadvantage with Calum...sad.

nobody is hyping this guy. is this liam and paul's brother at 168? i watch a lot of UK domestic-level fights so i've probably seen him. but nothing stands out as a memorable performance.

if he's the goods, let's get it on.

When did the "Hype" begin he doesn't get talked about much on this forum. Do I think he can beat DeGale? NO not right now but Callum I do think is a serious contender at 168

Callum is a good fighter, and has it in him to make shakes in the division.
But him jumping up from one level to the top level of the division has come too early for him i would of thought.

He's still learning on the job and there's other fights out there that would benefit him and improve him before facing the likes of DeGale and Jack.
