    MM: Canelo vs Showtime Porter

    Mythical Matchup

Would Canelo's power be too much for Porter at 154?

Porter could definitely make 154 and be healthy and fit.

I think it's an interesting matchup. I lean towards Alvarez though I think Porter would have a strong showing.

The real question would be whether or not it goes the distance....

Porter would bully Canelo to the ropes and force him to counter on the backfoot. It's would be a war that depends on whether or not Porter can not smother his own work.

If we got Canelo/Khan and GGG/Brook this doesnt seem very farfetched. This fight does nothing for Canelo's career but I can see it being a very entertaining fight.

He always smothers his own work, it's his biggest fault as a fighter.

Maybe it happens. I can see 147 being hard for Porter to make in the future given his mass....

I'm not a Canelo fan but he'd probably be the first to stop or seriously hurt Porter. Canelo would get in the ring 15+ pounds bigger, in addition to him already being naturally bigger. As a poster stated above, he'd smother his own work when Canelo would allow him to get in. I think Porter would get counter punched and combo punched all night...body head head...body body head.

Seems like Canelo moving up when he returns and will fight either Lemiuex or Billy Joe

I wouldn't mind seeing Porter vs Cotto though that would be a good match up

if porter bulks up well, porter wins. And i genuinely mean that, its not some anti canelo comment. Porter is a really good world class fighter, on another night he could have wins against thurman and brook and be right up there p4p, the fights were that close.

Canelo via late-TKO in a close fight.
Porter is there to be countered, and I generally believe that Canelo hits harder than Thurman who rocked Porter.

porter is good at one thing and that using his body to push fighters where he wants them but than dude doesnt know how to pause and take a step back and let em rip, he either jumps in with power shots and catches you or he rushes in and smothers himself, either way canelo destroys him inside of 7 rounds.
