You have to scale it, obviously. If we were ranking based on every active boxer in the world we'd have everyone we're familiar with in the A category. We're talking about relevant opposition. So, you scale it to cover a range of F through A.

Not everyone gets a star and an A for effort.

But why scale everyone down so far, as if there's maybe 1 A- fighter, 2 B fighters, 3 C fighters, and the rest in the division are crap?

The top10 fighters in the division should average at least a B+. If someone wants to downgrade Wade, then fine, but calling Lemieux a C+ fighter or some other such nonsense is ridiculous.

Problem is, we've seen some of these guys get clowned in other weight classes or by guys from other weight classes and that's how we know they're awful. We can't dumb it down to made slobs like Lemieux into excellent fighters. Doesn't take away from Genady being an A fighter in my book.

I reject this thing people do where they pretend MW is great right now. The whole world knows MW sucks and there's one great fighter in that division. It's a damn shame that he can't get good fights in that division but, hey, it's his choice to either pursue greater fights or be content with what a thin division with ducking champs has to offer.
