Like Pirog vs. Jacobs. That was for the vacant WBO title. I wouldn't even say Quillin vs. Lee was a cherry pick despite Quillin refusing to face Korobov.

Otherwise it was a good list:

Tony Thompson vs. David Price was a cherry pick gone way wrong. At that time Price was being heralded as the one to stop the Klitschko reign. Huge puncher and undefeated and Kellie Maloney put him in with a Klitschko victim expecting similar results and it backfired.

Mares vs. Gonzalez. Fight pretty much ended Mares' career and he was a massive 10-1 favorite to win against a fading champion and he gets KOed in the first round.

Of course, IMO, the biggest example of the cherry pick gone wrong was Garcia vs. Herrera. That fight did a number on Garcia's reputation and he still hasn't recovered.
None of these are cherry pick.

A cherry pick is a fight you take when you have other options available which also make more sense, but you take the "easier" fight and usually also the less rewarding one.

Winning a cherry pick doesn't make it not a cherry pick, if it was more challenging than anticipated, it's a cherry pick. Period.

the "gone wrong" does imply the fight was lost by the cherry picker.

It also can't be a cherry pick if it's a mandatory or similar situation, as that conflicts with the definition itself, that there were other options.
But picking the "less-challenging" option doesn't always necessarily make it a cherry-pick.

For example, Mayweather fought Hatton rather than Cotto, or Margarito... While Hatton was definitely the easiest option of the bunch - a career 140 pounder whose only fights at 147 he struggled greatly - was still an undefeated, respectable opponent.

Also when Pacquiao fought Cotto and Clottey rather than Mosley - at the time - Mosley was seen as the hardest option, but Cotto and Clottey were still extremely difficult opponents that wouldn't be considered cherry picks.

I can't put an exact definition on cherry-pick, but just like distinguishing ****ography from mere nudity - I know it when i see it.

Hatton being undefeated doesn't make it a better win than Cotto or Margarito.

I'm easily a bigger Floyd fan than you, so don't think i'm being biased here.

If Juan Manuel Marquez, a first ballot Hall of Famer, is a cherry pick...then that just goes to show how great that Manny Pacquiao was/is.

Lol how do u know how big of a Floyd fan I am, or am not?

Anyway, that still doesn't make it a cherry-pick, though; all because it was the easiest option (highest paying/lowest risk) of those three, doesn't mean it was a cherry-pick.

I actually didn't call it a cherry pick, ever, lol.
