Comments Thread For: Kovalev Hopes To Become The P4P Best With Win Over Ward

Sergey Kovalev: When I was growing up in Russia I did not hear these words pound for pound. Once I learned what this was I knew this was important. I am honored that people think I am the fighter that could get this title. It's important for me, for my career."

The winner of this fight probably gets fighter of the year award also.

Walters has more of a resume than Kovalev but doesn't get put in any top 10 p4p lists. Just sayin'

If he tires like he did in the Chilemba fight ward could stop him late on. I think he'll be hitting fresh air all night long. Can't wait to see it though.

The winner will be the undisputed p4p king , imo.

Kovalev could KO Ward in 4 rounds, or Ward could school him for a full 12, no matter the result, whoever wins will be the #1 P4P fighter in boxing.

Because for certain fans small fighters can't be pound for pound best - I still see Gonzalez as best based on recent resumes no matter who wins Kov vs Ward. Now if Winner of Ward/Kov kos Stevenson and beats Golovkin - then we can talk.

Why? If the fight is a bore fest with Ward out of range and just jabbing to points victory? Sure it can be fight of the year but it depends on how the fight is, not just the fact that they have stepped in the ring together.
