Comments Thread For: Long-Reigning Lefties - Pacquiao, Hagler, Martinez, Winky, More

The legacies of recent long-reigning lefties Although only 8-15 percent of the adult population are left handed, four of the last five US presidents were southpaws, a piece of political trivia lost amidst the pre-election mudslinging. Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barrack ***** signed legislation, declarations of war, and congressional vetoes from a starboard-centric position; George W. Bush was the only president since 1980 to commandeer the nation favoring his port side. Regardless of who wins the presidential election on November 8, the United States will take a turn to the right again since neither Hillary Clinton nor Donald Trump are lefties.

i think even the current version of Pacquiao is the second best /most complete southpaw of all times behind Pernell Whitaker.

        Great article.

I still say Marvin Hagler is the most dominant champion of my lifetime. Dude was a monster at 160. I never thought he'd lose.

the stat they used int eh article, is that for america or worldwide????

why is there such few left handed people????

i always found it weird. i mean you are either left or right handed? why is there such a wide chasm in terms of sheer numbers between southpaws and orthodox????

i know a lot of it has to do with teacher correcting southpaws in grade school and turning them into force righties....

                scumbags....

Well, i know many trainers like southpaws a lot, so they put a lot of time on them teaching tactics and some more time spent on them than in the other fighters.
Also, it's confusing fight a southpaw if you have never faced one before, i have never faced a southpaw for example.
In my gym we were practicing the 1-2-left to the body, but being a southpaw myself i had to throw 1-2-1-left to the body, so that confused the guy i was sparring.

author claims manny is naturally right handed but fights southpaw

                    I don't buy it.

manny has too much pop in his left
