I've never rated Ogogo even when he was in the Olympics. His style is pretty awful and looks like he's walking through quicksand.

Didn't think he'd lose this early in his career though. But he just couldn't get to grips with that southpaw stance.

I never thought he was that good. To be honest, i forgot he was even active.

Like most British olympic medalists, he got some good exposure and he was marketable for things off the back of that because of his looks. In reality though, the exposure he got at the start of his career probably was greater than his talent. And even if he was a good prospect, his career has been stop-start though injuries which probably hasn't helped.

It's not like he's even that marketable anymore with his looks or whatever, he can't ride off the back of an olympic medal anymore and he just isn't that good a pro fighter, so in and out of boxing he holds little value anymore. He's a bit of a helmet too, i doubt his ego will allow him to stay around and be a journeymen. He won't have that many more fights.

I can't remember the context of the thread but a year or so ago I said Ogogo was concentrating too much on being a celebrity, something fighters do after an established career, rather than concentrating on creating an established boxing base.

Then I found out that he was fighting Cunningham, who I've seen on the small hall shows here in England and he is a solid fighter. Levels above the guys Ogogo was fighting before and I just felt an upset could be on the cards.

What makes it worse is that I'm hearing he quit. If that's true, then I'm shocked. Ogogo has always been very determined in the gym and apart from the slight mental dip following his issues around 2012, I always felt he had a big heart. This is really surprising me.
Most of the people who responded to my post have the same opinion about Ogogo. Perhaps this was a bad example of the point I was trying to make. The responses were pretty educated and detailed so props to you guys. I forget how knowledgeable boxing fans can be sometimes.

There is nothing positive about your poisonous self. Nothing.

You live in the most backward western country on the planet.

Americans aren't held to higher standards because the world actually despises you.

If you hold your Boxers to high standards, it's got to hurt when they're beaten by the Brits all the time.

You do not log off when watching British Boxing because you're a creepy stalker who has an inferiority complex. As I say, keep on watching your daddy.
