Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Coach: Mayweather Deserves Catch-Weight, NOT Canelo!

Abel Sanchez, trainer of Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (36-0, 33KOs), is very firm in saying that his boxer will not agree to any sort of catch-weight for anyone other than Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs).

If Canelo says 158 they need to take the fight. Are they willing to concede on anything to make this fight happen? They're acting like Canelo needs GGG when it's the other way around.

GGG deserves a better trainer and mouthpiece. He's actually damn good, exudes a quiet confidence and is workman-like in his approach. Abel Sanchez is bad karma. Bad bad karma smh.

It's too late to cave-in on the catchweight now (not that he necessarily should). Canelo will move up eventually and that fight will be there... I'm not as amped about this fight as I am other fights (maybe because I think GGG is going to win easily). If they had it this year or will have it next year, I'm not particularly moved one way or another. I'm probably missing something...

It's easy talking about Mayweather because everyone knows the fight would never happen.Canelo dropping the belt is the enduring image that makes him look bad ,not so much that he wanted a catchweight too.It looks bad.I like Tyson Fury but I think he's made a mug of himself dropping the belts because he did it to David Price too.It is a close to ducking as you can get in a sport where I would never call anyone an actual coward.

Sanchez is a moron.Did you hear him saying Mike Tyson didn't dominate the heavyweights during his reign ? What an idiot. The opposite of Golovkin as a person.

I am starting to believe this fight may never happen. Once Canelo dropped the belt Team GGG knew they would have to make concessions, now it seems like they don't understand that.

If it's not about the money, then take the 10 mill and sign!

                Tired of both sides attitude.

I am pretty tired of Sanchez but he does have a point.

Canelo may be the face of boxing but he's nowhere near Mayweather or DLH was in terms of popularity.

I think that's actually part of the problem.

DLH could be a diva and people would go along. Mayweather could too.
Canelo can't because he doesn't have the pull those guys did.

Canelo's not being a diva. In fact, aside from GGG, I can't think of anyone else who has had major issues dealing with him. But I can think of several outfits who've had issues dealing with GGG.
