He's a great fighter and he has my respect. Although, a lot of his antics and talks in regards to fighting Canelo were questionable, in the end he fought him and fought him well.

His loss to Margarito was the result of loaded wraps. Before he got stopped in that fight he was doing well. Plus he avenged the loss.

He had trouble making weight against Pacquiao and was drained.

Although he lost to Floyd, he fought him well and made it competitive in spots.

He really looked outclassed by Trout.

Like I said, fought Canelo well. Canelo was just the bigger, stronger man and it showed. He lost, but he wasn't outclassed.

I think people rate him too high for his win over Martinez, who was clearly injured.

He's one of the best fighters of his generation, just not the best. He was also one of just a handful of fighters that could be considered a cash cow. As such, he has his fanatics who over rate him and his haters who would give their left nut for others to join them in bashing a future first ballot HOF.

I will say this, people criticize some of his latest behavior, but forget he was pretty much denied a chance at Floyd while undefeated, with good momentum, and in his peak after beating Mosley. His other option? Facing Margarito in a fight he now feels cheated, not only of the victory but his prime. After that for his next big break he faces a once in a lifetime fighter at an uncomfortable weight with virtually no trainer.

He was bitter and lacking options. He could have made excuses, but instead he started over compensating at the negotiating tables for his future fights.

Now people use that against him, but forget all the sacrifices he made in his career and all the entertainment he delivered.

Very good fighter when he was younger. Spoiled perhaps to a damaging level by his own loyal puerto rican fanbase as he aged.

I don't believe he's truly had any "comebacks". Beating a Sergio Martinez who could visibly barely walk and had to smuggle illegal knee braces under his parachute trunks wasn't a comeback. Beating a Daniel Geale who just got KTFO wasn't a comeback. Etc.

But his fanbase always guaranteed him some kind of payout/huge fight.

Yuri Foreman came in with the same injury, same result. Did Cotto even get tagged in these bouts?

OMG I forgot all about that! LOL! That was held at Yankee Stadium too. Yeah but I don't think anyone holds Yuri Foreman very high. That was more of a bounce back fight for him after the Pacquiao bout.

Still got a belt out of it though.

HOF'er for me - very good fighter. Big wins, beat lots of champions, lots of very good champions. Obviously lost to Mayweather and Pacquiao, with extremely contrasting performances. I always thought he was in a bad place when he fought Pac, he hadn't quite recovered from Margarito yet, he had no corner, and he caught Pac on his best night.

Canelo - much closer on the cards than the judges had it.

But lots of very good wins - especially at 140-147.

                N'dou
                Bailey
                Corley
                Torres
                Malignaggi
                Quintana
                Judah
                Mosley

On an undefeated run, was no joke that is a hell of a run and some very good names there. 8 reigning, former/future world champions in there. That doesn't even include Maussa who obviously won a strap after his loss to Cotto.

He avenged the Margarito loss, and beat a faded Mayorga and Martinez. Beat Clottey (close fight) who was a monster at 147lbs.

He has a very solid resume and he literally fought everyone.

Killer jab, and left hook (head and body). Very good combination puncher, excellent at judging distance.

I think he had a really good career. Alot of good wins. He was great at 140 pretty good at 147 just to small for 154.

that bout was fake by the way. The guy Foreman beat, Santos, was paid off to fork over that belt... however, I honestly don't mind NYC rat packs and those at the BWAA having a go with some Nostalgic ***ish gettups every blue moon.

Hauser was furious with that bout too.... however, his article was already written before the bout.

On his last leg now, but a great fighter, still a tough out for anyone.. but above 147 he isn't as powerful, really showed up in canelo fight when he landed n boxed beautifully but really could hurt canelo.. I don't like his chances vs young cats at 154 like Williams, charro, Andrade..
really like his chances if he could still make 147 vs guys like Thurman brook Bradley etc.. I would favor cotto over all of them..

Very skilled fighter behind the jab, good combinations, good footwork, good pop below 154...

Def a hall of famer, but best days behind him..

Gave me plenty of great fights over the years but Father Time catching up..

Would like to see him vs other older fighters like Bradley, maybe manny 2, Marquez... would have loved to seen cotto vs maidana..

Best fights for cotto is bringing big name welters up to 154.. I got no interest in seeing cotto fighting legit prime 154 or 160 guys
