Golovkin rejecting Ward doesn't excuse the ginger fraud's ducking. One has nothing to do with the other and they're not the same scenario.

Why can't we just call these fighters out for being punks rather than act like raving fanboys with no ****ing life or identity outside of hating certain fighters? Seriously, this is why boxing is such an awful sport. All these ****** fans let it be awful.

Ok fair enough, GGG ducked Ward. But Ward never had a belt at Middleweight, was never in the same weight as GGG and crucially was not a mandatory fight. There are pretty big distinctions between the two scenarios here.

Exactly. But all the pathetic fanboys that make up boxing fans would rather excuse Alvarez's ducking just because they don't like Golovkin. They'll twist and spin and make up complete lies because they don't want there to be any chance of Golovkin actually succeeding at anything. They are so obsessed and dependent on hating a single fighter that they celebrate him being ducked. Same with Golovkin fans and Ward.

Both sides need to grow up.

If Canelos thought he could beat GGG he would have fought him already for a 55- 45 split. Canleo was the B side to fight Cotto so he took less than 50 percent, yet he wont fight GGG being the A side. He knew he had a chance to beat an old, lighter, midget, pass his prime Cotto.

Blah blah blah... Like he said... care to comment on why your idol GGG couldn't come up with enough stones to fight Ward? THAT is the issue with THIS article. Not weight. Not Canelo. Not Cotto. Try to focus. GGG knew he'd have gotten owned by the slick Ward. There's your reason.

Team Golovkin said they weren't interested, there's no real controversy over that I think. The whole 164 thing was prefaced by 'we don't really want Ward right now , but.. '. Some have said it's because GGGs a coward, which is possible, but I don't know the man so I can't say - though it's not a trait I associate with pro boxers. I think the point that has many people riled is simply that GGG apparently claimed (or at least Sanchez did) that they could beat Ward and then didn't take the option of fighting him when it was available, whatever the reason. Fair enough - talking big and not backing it up is never a good look.

However, I don't attach any blame to Golovkin for not fighting Ward any more than I do to Canelo for not (yet) fighting Golovkin. Whatever his words in the past his only obligation to fight GGG evaporated when he gave up the strap. Likewise Golovkin never had any obligation to fight Ward whatever he or his team may have said about 154 - 168 - the unspoken caveat of such statements- like 'i'm not afraid of anyone' has always been 'if the money's worth the risk'. Still, just as Canelo would have been well advised to drop the strap and keep his mouth shut about Golovkin, Golovkin may have been better advised to just STFU about 168 whatever his (or Abel's) intentions at the time.

Fantastic post, the difference between a fan and a fan boy.... a real fan can accept when the fighter he likes deserves criticism, these other Golovkin fans will find a way to justify anything. "Ward should have accepted the fight at 164 because Floyd......" .... Golovkin can do no wrong in these guy's eyes, it just makes discussing anything related to the man a pointless task.

On topic, the WBO prez needs to be quiet, someone in such a position of influence and power should steer clear of making this kind of comment. It's very unprofessional to appear to be taking sides or vehemently defending a side.
