Dude nobody outside the hardcore fans even know who Golovkin is.

Golovkin is no super star thats reserved for a a few fighters and right now its Canelo.

Golovkin outside the hardcore boxing circle is a nobody get that through your delusional thick head.

Now if Canelo wasn't around boxing would be in a deeper hole cuz he's the only superstar right now.
the casual fans in uk voted ggg p4p number one, almost double the votes of ward in second place.. unless the average sky sports fan is a hardcore boxing fan according to you

Skill doesn't equal superstardom. Rigo can't draw flies.
Are you comparing Rigo to Alvarez or Rigo to Golovkin?

How did Rigo even get in this discussion? We can all agree Alvarez nor Golovkin fight like Rigo or draw those typeof crowds...

Let alone we as boxing fans seen crowds roar or HBO commentary remind its subscribers that Alvarez has a huge following

Is that all you can come up with troll. I mentioned facts. And you say my names an ault reservation. Im not an ault this is me Joe fn Gomez aka doc Green thumb. I know Boxing been watching since I was 5. Favorite Fighters growing up Duran, Hagler, Arguello, hit man Hearns, Tyson, Holyfield, Julio Ceasar Chavez and Oscar Dela Hoya. What do those fighters all have in common, warriors who gave it there all and wanted to be great not ducking fighters and crying about money and other nonsense you fan boys get a rise out of.
By the way I'm mexican was a Connello fan until he turned into a Diva. I'm not a casual either like you lames like to claim about other posters. 100% boxing fan, give up date nights with my fiance just watch the sweet science. What else you want to know.

          What? i think you're a bit simple.

All i said was Canelo is not a worldwide superstar. You're the one who brought skill level into the discussion about him being a superstar and i was pointing out skills are irrelevant to our conversation and it doesn't always equal stardom.

What's so hard to understand? - I was merely pointing out that although he does good numbers, and has a strong Mexican following, he's not a superstar on a global level and was saying Pacquiao was probably the last boxing superstar in the sense he had large amount of fans in most continents in the world, that's the definition of a superstar. Most people in Europe and Asia and other places don't give a damn about Canelo or even know who he is.

900K is good for any fighter. Remember this is pre 32mil garunteed per fight. I know you guys think Floyd is god but that's a solid number.

Floyd already had 1mil+ plus PPV before Oscar. If Loeffler and Abel are promoting the idea of Trilogy, why don't they accept GBP's terms? Surely a rematch clause would automatically be put in place. What are K2 and Abel afraid of? 10million pre trilogy?

Canelo has a good mexican fanbase and a few others. Worldwide, he's the ginger that got schooled by Floyd, that's the truth of the matter.

That is not a superstar. Boxing doesn't have a true one after Floyd and Manny, well Manny is fighting but on his way out really.

HBO and Golden Boy are trying to tell everyone Canelo is a super star, but he really isn't. Boxing just isn't that big anymore and he has no appeal worldwide. If there's going to be a true global superstar in the next 5 years, i'd bet my house Canelo won't be it, he's lacking something to propel him to that true superstar status.
He sold over 51 thousand tickets a few weeks ago against a totally unknown fighter, the revenue from this PPV did a lot better than GGG vs Brook even though Brook is 10 times or more known than smith and by far more liked, and yet Canelo carried this fight alone did a lot better than any of GGG fights. if that's not being a star than as usual you're hating trol.

I never said he wasn't a star, he does better numbers than anybody right now.

I said he's not a global superstar like some make out. Outside of a couple of countries, nobody hardly cares about him or even knows who he is. Nobody is doubting his popularity amongst some americans/mexicans/mexican-americans, but that alone doesn't make you a global superstar.

I'm not a Pacquiao fan, but he had/has fans in USA, Asia, Europe etc. etc. That is a superstar. Canelo is just a very good draw in the current boxing climate.

Even just look at social media such as Facebook. Official pages for Pacquiao and Floyd are doing 11 or 12 million. Canelo is doing 1. That is the difference between a superstar and a popular fighter.
