Skill doesn't equal superstardom. Rigo can't draw flies.
How did Rigo even get in this discussion? We can all agree Alvarez nor Golovkin fight like Rigo or draw those typeof crowds...
Let alone we as boxing fans seen crowds roar or HBO commentary remind its subscribers that Alvarez has a huge following

All i said was Canelo is not a worldwide superstar. You're the one who brought skill level into the discussion about him being a superstar and i was pointing out skills are irrelevant to our conversation and it doesn't always equal stardom.
What's so hard to understand? - I was merely pointing out that although he does good numbers, and has a strong Mexican following, he's not a superstar on a global level and was saying Pacquiao was probably the last boxing superstar in the sense he had large amount of fans in most continents in the world, that's the definition of a superstar. Most people in Europe and Asia and other places don't give a damn about Canelo or even know who he is.Last edited by deathofaclown; 10-21-2016, 03:02 PM.

Floyd already had 1mil+ plus PPV before Oscar. If Loeffler and Abel are promoting the idea of Trilogy, why don't they accept GBP's terms? Surely a rematch clause would automatically be put in place. What are K2 and Abel afraid of? 10million pre trilogy?

Canelo has a good mexican fanbase and a few others. Worldwide, he's the ginger that got schooled by Floyd, that's the truth of the matter.
That is not a superstar. Boxing doesn't have a true one after Floyd and Manny, well Manny is fighting but on his way out really.
HBO and Golden Boy are trying to tell everyone Canelo is a super star, but he really isn't. Boxing just isn't that big anymore and he has no appeal worldwide. If there's going to be a true global superstar in the next 5 years, i'd bet my house Canelo won't be it, he's lacking something to propel him to that true superstar status.

I said he's not a global superstar like some make out. Outside of a couple of countries, nobody hardly cares about him or even knows who he is. Nobody is doubting his popularity amongst some americans/mexicans/mexican-americans, but that alone doesn't make you a global superstar.
I'm not a Pacquiao fan, but he had/has fans in USA, Asia, Europe etc. etc. That is a superstar. Canelo is just a very good draw in the current boxing climate.
Even just look at social media such as Facebook. Official pages for Pacquiao and Floyd are doing 11 or 12 million. Canelo is doing 1. That is the difference between a superstar and a popular fighter.Last edited by deathofaclown; 10-21-2016, 04:12 PM.
