... Actually he was the (interim) WBC and IBF champion -- vs Lamont Peterson...

Argentina's Lucas Matthysse (37-4, 34KOs), 34-years-old, is targeting a return in early 2017. He says his next fight will likely take place on a date in March or April.

... after Lucas Matthysse vs Danny Garcia both fighters never were the same...

Matthysse has no business at 147 to date... the guy is done...

C'mon, the guy is a joy to watch and can box when needed, but fell in love with his power. I welcome Lucas back to the ranks, which are more interesting with him.

As for belts, well that could be a stretch as champs these days tend to place belts in a cabinet and fight ruined/tune up fighters until retirement. Boxing needs fighters like Lucas as he shows nothing but respect for boxing and his opponents, in a nut shell...he is a proud man.

Don't watch, but also don't complain when boxing only has poster boys with managed careers. Lucas has given me enough entertainment thus far to continue supporting him and show the promotors that boxing doesn't just need showmen and ballet dancers in the ring.

        Welcome back Lucas

lucas is basically undefeated like cotto. robberies against judah and peterson, would have won if the ref hadn't ruled a rabbit punch a knockdown against garcia, and postol should have been dq'd. undefeated.

              Too Hard To Make 140

Lucas is an exciting fighter and fun to watch.
He says he'll be more comfortable at 147 but what's really going on is an older fighter who just can't make his best weight (140) anymore. When that happens it's time to retire but not too many fighters do.

You would rather Lucas retire than go out on his shield, a champion?
