I lean towards a yes, maybe not first ballot, but definitely worthy...

    Elite level fighters he's beat:
-Vic Darchinyan (Potential Hall of Famer)
-Jorge Arce (Potential Hall of Famer)
-Fernando Montiel (Potential Hall of Famer)
    -Tyson Marquez
    - Volodymyr Sydorenko
    -Omar Navaez

And defeated a host of contenders....
It's not just that he beat them, it's how he did that. At one time he was one of the most feared punchers, p4p, in the sport.

The fact that he is still maintaining a high quality career at a weight which is beyond his best is impressive too.

IMO he gets in with little debate. It's hard to say if he gets in on his first try. These writers tend to overlook deserving candidates.

Think about it. How is it possible for Johnny Tapia to be left out of this year's class?

No doubt one of the best lower weight fighters in history. A loss to Rigo then goes up to fight a beast in Walters. Odd he gets so much hate when he actually fought fighters that some would never get in the ring with.

I agree. He definitely has a warrior's mentality.

            **** no.

This guy feasted on midgets. he should be in the HOF for cutting weight.

His best win was against Vic and thats it.

Montiel was not p4p and if he was, thats because you overrated the win against the japanese. before that he was struggling against journeyman and hasnt done much since. Some people so desperate to have two 48ers they overrate the **** out of him. You even listed his win against badly faded Arce as a highlight foh.
Arce may have been faded but he still took him out in dominant fashion. Same with all of the other guys. He was at one point a P4P staple. He never backed or ducked any challenge.

Donaire is far from being a brawler. lol
He is a pretty good counterpuncher and fights at midrange, but relies way too much on his left hook.

The only time he looked remotely like a brawler was against mathebula, because he struggled with his height and reach.

Other than that his normal modus operandi is to catch his opponents coming in or to counter over the jab.

Of course he didnt duck any challenge, did you see who he was challenging? He had height and reach on all of them. Bittersweet he got his ass beat by Rigo who was also way smaller.

Live by the midget, die by the midget lol.

No he isnt a HOFer. He is a 48er.

                  That's not good logic.

Donaire is probably 5'7 with shoes on. Rigo is 5'5. No different than Leo Santacruz at 5'7 vs Carl Frampton at 5'5. Frampton beat him in convincing fashion.

i actually work with a lot of filipinos immigrant and brought this question up. a lot of them feel he's just too americanize for their liking. but then again, even the filipinos americans that were born here doesnt really show him much support either.

take Manny out of the equation and things change
