With the number of recent "reports" alleging the GGG-Jacobs fight being all but announced, I won't believe this "news" of a Hopkins fight until something is said by a GBP representative

That's a great fight and a daring fight for a 50 year old to take. Boxrec ranks Smith 6th in the world and he has KOed almost 90% of his opponents. Smith lost once by KO about 7 years ago and hasn't lost since. He KOed Fanfara so he is the real deal. I pray Hopkins beats him and retires for good.

Easy, easy work for Hopkins. He's going to send Joe Smith Jr to another galaxy.

Very dangerous fight for Hopkins since the kid can **** and has improved significantly since his last lost!

If Hopkins wins and this kid goes onto beat Stevenson it'll look better for Hopkins! Solid fight

I got no qualms with this fight. Smith is a young and hungry fighter coming off a huge upset win of a quality opponent - Hopkins is a 51 year old HOFer and veteran who wants to go out of boxing on a victory.

On paper this fight looks like it could be interesting - a "youth versus experience," or "will over skill" exhibition. In reality it will probably be a boring ugly clinch fest points win for the old timer.

              I'll watch it, doe

While the contracts have not been signed, it looks like Bernard Hopkins (55-7-2, 32KOs) will be facing Joe Smith (22-1, 18KOs) in what will be his farewell fight on December 17th at the Forum in Inglewood, California.

I wouldn't mind Bhop's signature, but I don't want to see him fight. Something about a grey headed boxer, Liam Smith was sad to see.

My thoughts exactly. It's a good fight for both of them. If Joe wins, he can say he beat Bernard Hopkins someday. If Hopkins wins, it will add to his legacy. Definitely a winnable fight for either guy.

I still think Smith got a bit lucky against Fonfara. He was in trouble covering up on semi-wobbly legs when he threw a great punch.
