It's a world title just as respected as the WBC, WBO and the IBF. They all matter or don't matter about the same. Why do you even ask? This is just another GGG trashing thread. He is the best so he gets trashed the most. I remember when Mayweather was the best and he got trashed the most. You didn't like that but you are doing the same thing to a boxer you don't like. GGG has said again and again that he wants to unify the titles, which in any other era would be regarded as exactly the right thing to do.

So please, tell us again what you are talking about? Give us examples.

You and a lot of other posters that support GGG's "unification dream" have argued belts are meaning less for the last few years.

lol this thread confused the hell out of me. I've had to read it twice over but Larry has got a valid point. GGG title defences are a bit less than what the media is making out.

As long as GGG fights the type of opponents he's been fighting then he's on course to break any MW record in history.

Golovkin's made efforts to try an legitimize his title. His team pushed to make fights with N'Dam and Sturm. N'Dam vacated the day before their purse bid, Sturm paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to delay a purse bid, then a few months before the purse bid got a bypass to unify with Geale and was beaten. Rather than face GGG, Geale allowed himself to be stripped in order to fight Mundine. Even then, Golovkin continued to seek a fight with Geale.

Interim champ Chudinov tried to make a fight with Jacobs, and couldn't get a response.


Danny would legitimize his title as WBA champion, by either beating the WBA Super Champion, or atleast by getting that guy to vacate so that he is the top champion in that org.

What Larry is saying is that Golovkin's defences of the regular WBA title do not count as real title defences so all the talk of him being close to Hopkin's record is false. He's also asking why the same people who count those regular defences don't recognise Jacobs as a champion.

I agree for the most part, I don't view Jacobs as anything more than a mandatory challenger. Doesn't matter who didn't want to fight who, Golovkin didn't become the full WBA champ until 2014 when he beat Geale.
