Man, oh, man. It's hard being a Golovkin fan sometimes.

But I would Pick Golovkin to beat Hagler in an SD-MD match up. Marvin Hagler isn't Pernell Whitaker and Gennady Golovkin isn't Ruslan Provodnikov, he would respect Hagler's power and would not walk through him. Golovkin would probably try to pick his shots, and would punish him with body shots. The thing about Hagler is he holds up his hands too high that would leave his body open, and GGG would take advantage of it. Hagler would try to be the counter puncher, but the thing about Golovkin is he LOVES his opponents to be the counter puncher because of how he faints his shots and how he picks it.

The guy has left a trail of destruction in the middleweight division that hasnt been seen before, greatness is happening in front of our eyes, fighters are running for cover to avoid fighting him, and all you guys can do is ***** and moan!!! Its pathetic!!!!
And if you are going to say someone can beat him, please provide a good explanation rather than just talking crap, looking for intelligent boxing discussion...

Lol Hagler is 5'8 and GGG is 5'9. You gave one of the worse analysis that I have ever seen on why a guy, who has only 36 wins over not one good quality opponent, beats an extremely proven ATG in Marvin Hagler. Golovkin got shook by Kell Brook. Hagler would have chewed Brook up and spit him out in 3 or less.

Don't even think about bringing up Leonard...

Hagler Golovkin would be a gruelling, close fight which Golovkin takes with his superior boxing brain.
Roy Jones is the safest bet to beat him.

Hypothetically a lot of guys. I could think of 6 just off the top of my head that I would absolutely pick to beat him.

                    Hopkins
                    Jones
                    Toney
                    Hagler
                    Monzon
                    Sugar Ray Robinson

Then I could honestly pick another group of guys where I would be uncertain of the result.

                    Ray Leonard
                    Duran
                    Hearns
                    Pavlik
                    Eubank Snr
                    Nigel Benn
                    Jake Lamotta
                    Julian Jackson
                    Arthur Abraham
                    Jermain Taylor
                    Sergio Martinez
                    Felix Trinidad
                    Michael Watson
                    Errol Graham
                    Mike McCallum

Its up to GGG to make that list smaller - not mine or anyone else. He literally hasn't fought anyone yet - so this whole thread is FAR too hypothetical. Even some of the names on my list, in time they may prove to be farcical, they might not. But when GGG's current best win is Kell Brook, an elite welterweight today, but historically nothing special - then that makes threads like this premature and purely based on assumption more than anything else.

He has lots of title defences and that is bringing him in to a bit of a problem as far as his historical standing, because for whatever reason, a lot of it not his own fault, he hasn't yet fought anyone, and that is a detriment to his legacy.
