I mean, I get that a couple of pounds COULD make the difference at the elite level. However, following that to its nth degree, nobody ever fights each other because they're always a couple of pounds away from their ideal fighting weight.
Modern boxing really is a joke when you consider what the old timers used to do with regard to jumping weight classes. Again, I get that it's not always feasible with modern strength & nutrition to jump weight divisions as the more professional the sport becomes the more difficult this is, however the weight classes now are closer in poundage than before and in this particular incidence the writer is talking about a supposedly elite fighter bringing down his opponent 2 pounds (or up 4 pounds) so he can gain the maximum possible advantage. It's not sport in it's truest sense it's becoming something else with these silly weight differences
