But his tremedous fighting ability came from a dark place, and this guy was a monster outside as well as inside the ring. What would have happened if this guy was still around? Was he a hypejob, or would (as i think) he have become one of the greatest theres been? What would his career trajectory have looked like?

Only he didn't, had he still been fighting he probably would have been on his way out after a couple of loses.

I think Valero is a beautiful legend and nothing more.
He had very hard fight with DeMarco, definitely not a great fighter, that's all we should know about his real level.
Besides his skills and defense also weren't very good.
