    1. canelo did not do 300k. it did below that hence the nice fat rounded number of 300k.

    2. viewers in mexico dont matter in america.

    3. try again.

you're an idiot if you think Canelo got a $5 million flat fee. His guarantee was $5 million numbnuts, plus his ppv upside and the mexico tv rights he made between 12-15 million, depending who you ask.......

Being the best middleweight on the planet is greater than anything Canelo has on his resume.

You claim to know the sport yet you dont know this....

Other posters here claim you know your **** but i have yet to see that here......

        160 champion means something.

160 is ARGUABLY the greatest division in the history of boxing.

and as we found out with canelo's ppv numbers, he's NOT that big of a start that his fans and promoter make him out to be....
It is ****** to say that Canelo is not one of the best fighters in the sport right now. He his a huge money maker as well.

All of Canelo's wins over elite competition are better than one win over Golovkin.

Heavyweight is unarguably the greatest division in the history of boxing. That is why fighters in the 1900s-1920s went up to fight heavyweights.

          that's quite arguable.

          very arguable.

          id choose 160 over heavyweight.

greater set of fighters with greater versatility and skillset.

              Stop the lies.

This does not include any of the TV revenue from Mexico or sponsorship deals.

While Schaefer would not say what Alvarez's minimum total was, a source involved in the promotion said he will earn at least $12 million.

"He will end up making more than $5 million," Schaefer said. "He is going to make a significant upside because of the pay-per-view. It doesn't matter that he is getting $5 million [on the night of the fight] because he will make millions and millions more because I guaranteed him money on the pay-per-view, but I don't want to say how much."
As for the catchweight, Canelo "drained" 2 lbs at age 23. He was asking Golovkin to drain 5 pounds at age 35.

I won't argue that the Middleweights overall are more skilled than Heavyweights overall but it is unarguable that the heavyweight division is historically the most prestigious.

                    not after mike tyson.

                    again,

                    its very arguable.

the days of prestigious heavyweights like ali, joe louis, marciano, dempsey, are gone.....

unless of course tyson fury, wilder, and joshua get it on.... and rescue the division again....big If.

if you took all the boxers who participated at 160 lbs vs all the boxers who participated at heavy,

the sheer amount of great versatile boxers would overwhelm the number of great heavyweights.

sheer numbers alone, the greatness of 160 outnumber greatness of heavys.

now you want to talk semantic greatness like "prestigious" "reverence" whatever, then yea, one or two heavyweights as singular transcendent talents of their sport, sure nobody touches heavyeweights ali and louis..... and jack johnson.... but talking pure boxing skills,

                    160>>>>>>>>>>>HEAVYWEIGHTS

                    historically.
